Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| While it's been mentioned a couple of times on the forum in the past ( see Concerns and Aggression ) According to USA Today it's now being found in Florida again. For more information check out the AKC's site and possibly the WebMD site. There are currently - still - two forms of dog flu, H3N8 (in Florida in 2004) and H3N2 (upper Midwest 2016 and later). While I don't see any definitive information on which form of flu this is article suggest that it's the H3N2 (probably brought by a snowbird?) All that said, while these "dog flus" are *very* contagious dog-to-dog and we need to be careful exposing our pups to places and situations where they may be exposed, it is not dog-to-human contagious (not zoonotic). _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Ugh...Florida. My friend is looking for some place tropical to have her beach wedding and I was really pushing for Florida so I could take the dogs with me instead of boarding them. Maybe they really would be better off staying in a kennel while we go to mexico instead. _________________ |

| If everyone concerned has their passports, she could get a lot more wedding for the dollar than for the same money in Florida. 'Course that also carries the hassle of getting everyone 'south of the border' from who knows where in the states.
So far there have only been 7 confirmed cases in this outbreak in Florida and from what I've been reading it's the equivalent of a cold in humans. Seldom fatal, mostly just an inconvenience but who wants a sick (dog / kid / spouse / ???) My take is that since the dogs have *no* natural immunity to the virus it spreads like the seasonal cold / flu in a school - way too easy to catch! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |
