| So Mia got into my left over spicy fried rice last night and I didn't find the togo until this afternoon, I thought somebody else ate it up. Anyways, all day she was fine. Her stool this afternoon was kind of soft, but not that bad. She was playing like normal and no problems today. We left her about 6pm and got home around 10:30 pm tonight and she had vomited inside her crate and then had diarrhea after I got home and let her out. After I took a shower she had diarrhea again sound 12:00 am. About how long should I expect her to have diarrhea? and How often should I take her out?I don't want to leave her outside, I'm afraid she may get out of the yard.
Timeline: May 5th 9pm Puppy ingested left over spicy fried rice May 6th 12 went to walk around lake 2-4pm went home, Mia played with water hose spraying yard 6-10pm vomit inside crate 10:15pm first diarrhea 12am second diarrhea

| Oh I am so sorry to hear this. I would set up a schedule just for tonight and take her out every two hours. I would never feel comfortable leaving my dog outside all night as I am sure you wouldn't either. I would do that for about the first 12 hours after the first bought of diarrhea and then play it by ear.
I hope she is alright! |

| Bumping this to find out how it's going this morning???
If it's still bad can you post the ingredients you use for your "Spicy rice". I'm all for stealing your recipe, and I do love me some spicy food, but all joking aside the list of ingredients could possibly help a bit.
Some of the members here are quite good when it comes to seeing foods, or in this case herbs or spices, that could be a bigger problem. Nothing off the top of my head comes to mind but you never know.
However if Mia is doing better, and I truly hope she is, then good! keep an eye on her the next couple of days and mixing in some pumpkin into her food for the next couple of days should help you re-firming up her stole.

| If I were you I would start her on a bland diet for a couple days to settle her stomach. It may take a day or two for the diarrhea to stop, but if it keeps going I would take her into the vet, but I believe she will be just fine.
Boil boneless skinless chicken breast and add it to steamed white rice. If that's too bland, you can always add a little chicken broth to it.
Make sure she is drinking plenty of fluids, because you don't want her getting dehydrated. |

| Sorry to hear this! Chris and Kelly gave you some great advice though.
Diarrhea is expected and vomiting bile is okay (probably because she's hungry) but if she continues to vomit or dry heave much past 24 hours, I would take her to the vet so they can give her something.
However, this has happened to both Koda nad Hailey before. We just end up waking up every couple hours at night to let them out and put them on scrambled eggs for a meal or two (boiled check is good too- we don't do rice because they are on grain-free diets, so no sense introducing grains for no reason).
Keep us posted. I hope he's doing better soon. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Well she seems okay. Except for diarrhea at 7am today. I going to try what you guys have told me. Thanks!!! Fried rice was left over from restaurant, so rice, oil, peas & carrots, green onion, hot oil (crushed pepper, oil) little soy sauce, sugar, and MSG. |

Green onion, well onion in all forms, is toxic to dogs. It probably wasn't enough to really hurt him, but at his size it's probably thrown him for a loop. Keep an eye on him. Make sure there's no blood in his urine or stool, etc. Sounds like he's calming down so I honestly wouldn't worry. Koda's eaten worse and been fine, but it's likely the onion that is making him sick. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Just a normal can of "unspiced pumpkin". Just get PURE PUMPKIN.
The kind we get is by ED Smith, called Pure pumpkin, if they have it in the US I can't say.
But you should be able to find a can of it easy enough.

| NOT pumpkin pie pumpkin cans right?
Earlier Mia's diarrhea was like a fountain with an arc spraying out, now it's like an apple sauce consistency, love talking about poo. Hahaha |

That's correct, pure canned pumpkin. The pie filling has too much sugar and other junk that will just keep her little system all out of whack. You might try making a one for one mixture of the pumpkin and either plain yogurt or plain greek yogurt (what we use). That will help restore the good bacteria into her intestines and help settle her out as well. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I see. about how much should I be mixing into her food? And do you give yogurt to yours on a regular basis or only when he/she has the runs? |

| I usually mix it up, fill a kong, freeze it, and give it to her. I'd say it's ~3 tablespoons per kong, so if you want to just give it directly that would be a good estimate. I usually only give her the mix when she has the runs, but sometimes I use it just as a treat. The frozen kongs (I cap mine with a little peanut butter too) are great because they keep them occupied and quiet for a little while _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I have similar problem with my 2 month, 1 week old Lana. She is not vomiting but she is popping very watery and at High pressure. Poop is just shooting out the same way pee does. Will give the natural pumpkin mixed with the food.
Thank You. |

Thank You. Sounds like Colitis. Personally, i would withhold all food for a good 24 hours to let everything pass and settle, then start mixing in pumpkin to a small amount of food. |
