| Hello all, I am very glad i have found this site. I am the proud owner of a 6 moth old husky named Diesel lol. well anyways i was wondering about this brand of food. i started him on it about 2 months ago because i started reading how bad name brand dog food is for our pets. I have seen alot of threads on there about TOTW, so i was wondering how this brand compared to it. He is currently around 35lbs at 6 months. He is healthy, but not fat. i just want the best food for my little buddy. thanks for your help in advance |

| Hi and welcome!
Nutro doesn't appear to be a bad food but it's also not great, according to the website dogfoodadvisor.com it's rated at 3 stars. Foods like TOTW and Blue Buffalo are rated at 5 stars. A rating of 3 stars puts it in the same category as foods like Iams and Royal Canin.
If you're really concerned about the quality of food you're feeding Diesel, I would look at that site as well as the many posts on here to make an educated decision. The better foods cost more, however, so I don't know if that's an issue. Val has posted a lot of information on good nutrition (in multiple threads) for our furbabies.
Good luck! |

| I've been feeding my Dalmatian's Nutro the past few weeks due to the recall on TOTW. I'm honestly not impressed with it at all and will be switching back to TOTW as soon as everything is back on track with the company. |

| In the ingredient list after chicken meal which is the first ingredient listed, you have: Ground Rice, Corn Gluten Meal, Wheat Flour, Rice Bran which are all fillers.
My female does not do well with grain, so I tend to steer away from grain, espeically rice.
You can definitely find better options for your puppy, but it'll also depend on what you can afford and what is available to you in your area. You also have the option of ordering online at discount prices. _________________ |

| For those looking to go back to TOTW, it should be back in stock most places by next week. A few years ago, Nutro had several recalls (FYI). I also agree that there are better options available based on your budget and what is in your area. - cmanding wrote:

| Definitely browse the forum and check out the "What are you feeding your husky?" sticky in this forum as well for some ideas. There are much better foods than Nutro in the same price range but price and availability of foods will vary from place to place. That said I don't know what options are available to you or what price range you are looking to stay in. I'm not a fan of TOTW personally, but it is a decent lower priced grain free food for those on a budget. _________________ |

| But be careful because switching can wreak havoc on their digestive systems |

I was worried when i switched him before but i did my best to switch him 10% per day. he was to the point he didnt even want to eat the puppy chow. i looked at the list you guys mentioned and i think TOTW is the only one i remember seeing on the shelf around here. i might look at ordering something. i havent really decided. |

| I know that you can get most foods, even orijen, acana, blue wilderness, at amazon, the problem is it will cost to ship as much as $10. If you decide to order shop around the prices vary a lot between sites. General rule I found is ordering at Petsmart or Petco usually costs you less to ship, if they have the food your looking for! |

| Usually if you go to the manufacturer's web site you can find a store in your local area that has the product (usually can search by zip code or city / state) to avoid shipping charges. - Balonsmom wrote:
