Aggressive after spay? Empty
PostSubject: Aggressive after spay?   Aggressive after spay? EmptyWed Apr 18, 2012 10:53 am

We had our greyhound puppy (7 months) spayed last week and ever since Snow has been terrible around her, ESP during meals. Neither one of them have ever shown any type of aggression before but now it's getting to the point where Mia (the greyhound) has to eat in her crate because Snow comes up to her, all the hair on her neck and back completely up, and growls until Mia moves...up until this time they have been practically attached at the hip and constantly play with each other......
Has anyone ever had this type of problem? Mia does have to wear an Elizabethan collar (thanks to her chewing two sets of stitches out) so do you think it would have to do with her not liking the collar or something??

A little late now, but was it just the collar? A lot of dogs freak out when they see another dog with the cone of shame on. lol.

Well most dogs are frightened when they are "hurt". They will be very defensive it is part of a mechanism. my advice is to keep them separated from her. dogs shouldn't really be walking or trying to play after spay.

It was just the collar. Once she had her stitches removed and was allowed to be around the other two they were back to being bff's. Lol I am SO glad that is over! However now I am waiting to pick our beagle up today from getting fixed....so here goes round two!! Haha snow is next, so thankfully we will be all done within the next two weeks Smile

we were going to do all three at once but then thought maybe one at a time spaced out might be a little easier, then our foster puppies will both be done together right as snow is healing, so let's hope i make it through this with my sanity! Haha

Well I def think beagle/greyhound or beagle/husky pups would be less than ideal hahaha I'd probably have to pay someone to take a mix like that Smile and I'm getting plenty of "puppy" time with the fosters, so I'm good....no babies for my ladies!
Goober, the beagle, is now safely home and drugged up...so he is sleeping in his crate for now...Hopefully his recovery is speedy and painless!
