We have a Cadillac SRX and the cargo space isn't big enough for the dogs so we always put the seats down. When it was just Mya and Kody I would usually ride in the back with them to control the situation, but now with Asia that would be a bit challenging. Mya gets pissy when the other dogs fall on her and attacks. Such a b**ch! So we need to separate the back area in order to put Mya all by her lonely on one side and Kody/Asia on the other.
We figured that the barrier (in the video below) would be perfect, BUT the suction cups don't grip very well. This barrier was cheap like $20 and we originally bought to block them from the front.
Any suggestions on how to make this barrier secure? They knock it over when they bump into it. That or any other ideas for a barrier that we can use down the middle? Something that wouldn't screw up the interior of the car?
Oh, and we tried without the sheet. Still won't stay.

How about no barrier, but using seat belt harnesses on all three? Then Asia would be stuck in place next to Kody.

Unfortunately we tried that before with just Mya and Kody and they won't sit still and get all twisted and stuck

How about if you put a small piece of plywood under the bottom suction cup? Then maybe if you need it, a thin flat piece of plastic between the upper suction cup and the glass?

There's no way to adjust it so it's tighter fitting?
I don't have much to add Mel other than putting stuff under it to force it to be tighter.

Maybe a crate for the car for Mya, or Asia?

Just set up the barrier and then where the rods contact the roof drill through and then bolt them into place.
What the heck its not my Cadillac.

What about buying a better fitting pressure mounted barrier so that Mya is contained in the cargo area by herself. Then have Kody & Asia on the backseat. If they aren't okay to ride loose in the backseat, couldn't you use seat belt harnesses that are short enough to keep them in their seat and not allowing them to cross the backseat.

Or a bigger vehicle that fits Kody & Asia in the cargo area so Mya can ride alone in the backseat.

Len, hubby would kick my a$$ if I suggested drilling anything into the car that we've only been paying for a year Plus, we might see about trading it in for something bigger (like Val suggested), but that won't be for a while.
Jennet, hmmm. I'm not sure if a crate will fit plus the 2 other dogs. Would have to go see how small of a travel crate we can get.
We definitely need a quick fix solution before Saturday! We have a 40min drive to the pack walk!

i would flip it so its going the direction it should and put mya in the cargo area and the other 2 in the seat area. or get a better fitting one for the back and use the cheap one in the front to keep them from jumping on you?

I like the idea of putting the seat up, using the divider to keep mya and the others separated and then putting the other 2 in the backseat with harnesses. Or you could rotate it so that mya gets the back cargo area and the other 2 get the area closer to the front and just take them out by the back doors and mya by the back end (leaving the seat down to save the leather lol)

One of the main "issues" with placing multiple siberians in any vehicle is what happens when you open the door. Typically all of them will try and bolt for freedom which is a problem but even more a safety issue as they may just run into the road.
What I do is to get some carabiners, hook them on the overhead hand holds and attach the leash to them. That way when the door opens and they jump out (for those with uncontrollable urges to seek freedom) they won't be able to bolt and will stay close to the vehicle.
As to the separator, it will depend on how permanent you want the solution. Anything involving drilling will mar the interior when you decide to resell and anything that is pressure fitted only will not last.

Yep, good call. I don't know what kind of clips you used, but you may want to check out the carabiners as they will be less likely to break. I've had two brass clips simply break one on the leash and another on a long line at a really bad time as I was doing K9 SAR at the time literally feet from a major highway...
So when they're not mushing and we take them out, the clips have now been replaced with carabiners.
Remember, eternal vigilance as they will try and lull you into a false sense of security...

i got the HUGE stainless clips rated for like 500lbs! and the coated cable wire with the carabiners on the line that were rated 200lbs. like i said im more worried about the oh shit bars coming off the car before the lines break i have been loving the set up but it will not help melissa keeping mya from being a bitch.

No it's probably not warranted for that application

You took the words out of my mouth! I was going to say that I wish I could use that set up, but it's not happening with the bitch! I'm always saying "why can't we all just GET ALONG Mya!!!?"
I think the best bet would be putting Mya in the cargo space and the other 2 nuts in the back seat. The only thing is that Mya LOVES the window! It would break my heart to take that away from her. Not like they go out in the C-A-R everyday. I think that on the way to pack walk on Saturday I'll try putting Asia in the cargo area (need to get a barrier for there) and Mya and Kody in the back seat. Hopefully Mya won't attack Kody. If anything I can jump back there.
I definitely tie them up to the hooks in the car. The minute I open the door they all try to bolt out. Well, Asia, not yet. She just sits there and waits, but she's a puppy. That will be changing very soon I'm sure.
I've figured out that having 3 dogs isn't a big deal, but having 2 normal dogs and one bitch makes it such a mission!
thanks for the help guys!
