| have been on raw for my 2 dogs, unfortunately, my senior female keeps on gaining weight. from 24 to 30, so no choice, i just started to switch to kibbles for senior weight loss diet.
However, kibbles has not been my favourite choice, i will be switching to raw again after finishing my 15kg of kibbles, so can share with me what is a good raw receipe for overweight dog?
This is my raw receipe:
1 chicken spine 2 chicken feet 20gm beef trimming 20gm beef tripe 20gm liver (optional: 1 carrot, few pieces of brocoli) 1 apple every few days. |

| If you're feeding a dog raw, and it's gaining weight, reduce the amount of raw fed per day.
I'm not really sure what you mean by a raw "receipe." Are you grinding the food, instead of letting the dog chew it by herself? If so, is there a reason she can't chew it?
When you say 24, are you referring to 24kg? If so, that would be about 54lbs. You might want to try to feed a total weight of 1lb per day, or around .48kg? Depending on the activity level of the dog, you may need to increase/decrease that.
It also seems like you're feeding a lot more than 10% bone. Does your dog have any constipation issues? You might want to increase the meat, and decrease the bone some. |

Ditto. Are you feeding only that one recipe? Raw Fed dogs need to get plenty of variety to keep it balanced and healthy. The key to weight loss will mostly come down to food choice, portion control, and exercise...assuming there are no medical concerns. _________________ |

| Also beef is much more fatty than other meats. If weight loss is the goal I would reduce that and increase chicken or turkey. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| Dog is not having constipation, and i had reduce from 2 spines to 1 spine, seems like no way to reduce any further based on my receipe. I never grind the food, fed it to them fresh from the freezer, half thaw for them to chew on it.
I mean to say 24 kg increase close to 30 kg now. Whenever I visit the vet, they only say due to senior mentabolism issue.
I will try the suggestion to replace beef with chicken, and reduce the bone with meat increase. Someone told me bone is the cause to weight gain, true? |

| Bone is not going to be the cause of weight gain alone, overfeeding combined with lack of exercise will lead to weight gain. And any meal plan can be adjusted to feed less, you know you don't have to follow a precise recipe. I am still concerned that if you are only feeding that one recipe your dogs' health will suffer from lack of variety in the long run. _________________ |

Nono, its 5 days chicken, 1 day fish and 1 day beef as the main subject for each week. |
