PostSubject: Really sore after microchip?   Really sore after microchip? EmptyFri Apr 13, 2012 4:03 pm

I finally got around to having Zoey get her microchip, I never realized how big the needle for it was. Embry got his done while he was under for his neuter. She hasn't been herself at all Sad She's all sad and lazy, you can tell she is really sore. Is this normal? I never heard her screech so loud in my life when she got her chip put in

Nunya didn't care about any of the needles (he was vaccinated and chipped at the same time) but he SCREAMED like a banshee and rolled around on the floor for the bordatella. Fortunately for the vet, he associated the pain with the special treats so he still loved her lol He was a little sleepy from the vaccines but the chip didn't bother him noticeably

Ava didn't even notice when she got hers. They had trimmed some of her nails (she hates nail trims), then when she was getting really freaked out about the nails, they gave her a break and microchipped her, then did the rest of her nails. She didn't even seem to notice the big needle and definitely wasn't sore at all.

Kale didn't flinch or anything either, and acted normal when we got home. He got his 3 yr rabies and d3 year DHLPP along with it.

Ginger didn't notice it at all. They just grabbed a handful behind her neck and put the chip in and acted as if she didn't a darn thing of that needle.

Mine both got their chips when the went under for their spay/neuter, so I don't know whether they felt any after effects of it...they just felt the after effects of their "losses".

Hope she feels better soon!

Bella didn't care about actually getting jabbed. It was when we got home that she cared. She was SATAN biting snapping zoomies EVERYTHING. it was ridiculous.

Luka got his along with his first puppy shots at 8 weeks, he didn't make a sound for the vaccines but let a short squeal for the microchip, that needle is huge! might as well be a straw! not saw after though - he was completely fine.

Kya didn't even flinch. She didn't show any signs of caring about it afterwards as well. I've never heard of soreness after the fact...

Chili let out a huge howl, I felt so bad! He was new to us, so he mostly slept that day. Frosti had to get rechipped and there was just a small yelp.

Adobo & Biko both cried like little babies when they were chipped.

Indy never even let out a peep or a whine and he's the biggest baby in the world! I was really surprised...They took him to a back room to have it done, but I've chipped dogs myself and the needle is massive! Geez, poor things! I could imagine she may have been bruised a bit or it could just be tender. I'm sure she'll be fine in a day to a few days.

Our sibe let out the loudest yelp ever when he got chipped, poor baby. But he never exhibited any signs of discomfort or soreness after the fact.

My girls didn't seem to notice. lol. They were too interested in the treats we were distracting them with. I was at the shelter today and two kittens got theirs in and they didn't seem to care either. One of the huskies my mom rescued was a big baby about any needles! She would scream no matter the size. The vet even commented before hand, "oh great a husky. she's going to scream." So I guess a good number of huskies, at least that that vet has seen, are sensitive to shots.

They may have accidentally hit a nerve, it happens sometimes. It will heal and she should be better with a week =)

All of the techs and vets where I work at just say that huskies are drama queens, especially about anything that requires restraint. They also all suddenly get busy with something when I take Ava back for a nail trim Really sore after microchip? 1625187496

Kitty was sore for a few days after she got her microchip. Next time you go to the vet make sure they scan her to make sure the chip is still there. Kitty's first microchip fell out! Hope Zoey feels better soon!

Will do!

I had them scan Embrys chip when Zoey got hers done. He had his done at 5 months during his neuter and it barely moved Smile

Glad to read this I had originally decided not to get my lab microchipped, (I don't know why lol) so now I want to get it done for her because I have realized the importance of doing it. She is pretty good with shots so I hope she is ok, getting it done next week. Balon had his done before I got him.
