| Ok you see before Axel got Brut he and I would both walk the kids to school every morning. But e stopped when he got hit, but now he's on the mend and he switches on and off from walking with a limp to holding his foot up when he needs a break and he does amazing on 3 and 4 legs. So every time I leave to walk the kids he cries cause he wants to go he gives me sad puppy eyes and all. I want to take him and just tame it slow but I also don't want people who don't know the situation thinking he's neglected or abused...the vet said to let him go his own pace that he will k.ow when he's ready. Should I go ahead and take him and just ignore Snide Comments and ugly stares? http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BpUuJ9GsC_k

| Personally, I'd wait until he was putting weight on it all the time, but you know your dog better than anyone, if you think he can handle it then take him. My GSD is a freaking drama queen though so I don't push her to do anything. (One time you would swear that she broke her leg from all the crying and howling at night. Well 4 xrays and a lymes test later we found out it was growing pains!) As far as worrying about what other people think, well, don't. People are idiots. 9 times out of 10 I'm told by visitors that I'm a terrible dog owner for having a crate in my house. I've also been told by many that my GSD isn't a pure bred because her ears were floppy at 3 months. I've stopped caring about what other people think, especially when it comes to my dog ! |

It was splinted but on his last follow up they took it off and said the break was very small and had mended and to just let his instincts guide him. It's a ten min walk each way. |

said to just let his instincts guide him. . Let him go with you a dog can get by on 3 legs very well and with that short distance he will let his instincts take lead. |

Seriously? I've seen a bunch of GSD puppies with big floppy ears! Heck I had some sibe ladies at a dog show make fun of Siku's ears as a puppy calling them "deer ears." Now that she's all grown up they are just fine and fit the standard pretty well IMO. I've seen some nice show sibes have big ears as puppies too. You really can't tell much about how a dog is going to look except at 8 weeks (for some reason it's like the magical time when you can really see structure) and then when they are 2yrs old. Between that time, they fall apart and look like goofy puppies! _________________ -Sara |
