| So I got a husky who was about to be put down from the pound a few weeks ago and seriously, I'm in love. I loved my lab/retriever mix that we have but there's just something about Jake. I have anxiety/depression issues and just taking some time to chill with those to in the backyard has done wonders for me. Anyway, Jake has blended in wonderfully, he ignores the cats or if he starts to head toward them in a manor that I'm leary about I can call him off in an instant. He and Biscuit play like the best of friends. They ocasionally get too rough but for the most part they're good. I went with a friend of mine to the pound the other day and lo and behold the have a siberian/i don't know mix there. He's definitely part siberian but not sure what he's mixed with. He was an absolute lover and just gorgeous. Is it too much/too soon to expect 3 male dogs to live together amicably? |

| As far as huskies go, 99% of the time, the more the marrier, they love to be in packs! It's best to never have a husky alone... Just make sure your dog is good w other dogs and ask the rescue how his temperament is with other dogs and also its always best to introduce dogs on neutral territory, not at your home on your labs "turf" |

| well can YOU handle 3 dogs at once? we have had a lot of talk on here about adding a 3rd dog, i brought up the most recant talk and what seemed to be the all around agreeing was the $$$ part of it. everyone with 3 or more dogs said the $$ and care was much greater then having just 2 dogs. as far as is it to soon for your pack that would be up to you to figure out, i waited just one month before getting Jack i just could not wait. _________________ |

| I have two dogs and would love three, but the thing that's making me wait is that the second dog is still sometimes a handful. I want to have him well-trained and less exciteable before we get another dog. I can walk both together, but I know that I couldn't walk three together just yet.
I think only you can answer how well it would work for you. Could you walk all three at once? what would you do if it turns out you can't? Can you afford the extra money for vet bills, insurance and food, and kennel costs if you go away? Do you have the time to put into training the third dog as well as the two existing dogs? What if the other dog is not as good with the cat as Jake? Also, it's possible that Jake is still settling in since you have only had him a few weeks. It can sometimes take a few months for a dog to settle in properly. I'm not saying these things to stop you - they're just things to think about. If the answers to these questions are positive then go for it. |

| If you can handle the training and financial care, id say go for it. I have 4 abd a rescue that is outdoors bc she doesnt do well inside. We rarely have issues. If you can handle it if more than one animal gets sick at one time, its great. If not, it can be a disaster. We have 2 sick right now. Our male pom hasvallergy issues and one of our cats (not included in the count) has a respirtory infection. It gets VERY cstly, we ave spent about 300 in the last month.
Like others have said, you really need to be able to handle it finncially. It could mean life or death at one point, hopefully NOT, but the chance is there.
Huskies are very good therapy. I have bipolar disorder along with physical disabilities and the huskies have helped tremendously, even more than my poms has. They are amazinf breeds. |

| And the prey drive is a huge thing asvwell. Kya is great with all our animals, but Rio likes to chase the cats and can sometimes be too rough with our little dogs. You have to be prepared that he new one may not be as easily laid back and that could cause issues. If you are gong to get one, I qould do A LOT of research one THAT specific dog, temperment, food issues, background, parents, if possible etc

| Thank you guys Yeah, I'm thinking if he is still available taking both of mine up to the pound on Saturday so they can meet and see how they do. I talked to the man at the pound a bit and actually found out a wee more about Jake while I was there but I want to talk to him some more about the dog who is currently named Albas. He said in all of his years working there Jake is the 2nd smartest dog he's ever seen lol. |

| Please make sure they have THOROUGHLY tested the shelter-dog with cats. Rescues good with cats are out there (as you found with Jake) but they are not so easy to find and huskies not raised with cats are almost always a bad mix. Like others have said, do your research! But if you can handle it financially and physically (having and training 3 dogs) then go for it _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |
