hey i am wondering if its normal for my dog to pee when another dog growls at him. it happens every time, also for him to want to hump other dogs even though they are males. he is 6 months old, Thanks

Well it can be a sign of submission/scared basically. Do you know the amount? My sis in laws mastiff will do it often and i was told cause she was scared, but I am no expert.

Some breeds are more prone to submissive/excited urination than others, and Ghost has done it a couple of times when she was super excited. Our Cocker Lulu on the other hand, well, we call her the Cocker Sprinkler. We can't pet her or put a leash on her without risking some serious dribbling on the floor. The big thing, especially if you do suspect that it's a submissive thing is to not punish because that will only reinforce the behavior. Basically when Lulu dribbles we just clean it up without making a fuss.

Both Luka and Kitty would submissivly pee when they were little. They both grew out of it by a year of age. Lots of puppies exhibit this behavior, and its something they ususally grow out of.

Our GSD Nero will do it once in a blue moon. But it's when we come home from some where and I say his name then pet him he will do a p p dance as we call it.

In your case, because of the humping, I think the peeing is more of an excitement thing. Humping is a sign of dominance so I would be totally perplexed if he were submissive peeing and then showing dominance. I think he's just getting over excited. Definitely don't punish him for it as that will just make it worse. However, you could try taking him out of the situation when he does it. Leash him and walk away until he calms down, then bring him back. Don't get upset, just calmly leash him and walk away. When he settles, bring him back and repeat as often as necessary. I also wouldn't even allow him to approach another dog unless he was calm (no pulling, no whining, etc). Keep him calm when he approaches other dogs and it should get better.

As for the humping other males, yes this is totally normal. Humping is a sign of dominance. Dogs will do this to an object they think is "mine". I think keeping him calm when he meets other dogs is will help this as well. However, I'm of the camp to let dogs work out their own pack order. If he wants to hump and the other dog lets him, so be it. They will figure it out.

I apoplogize as i did not describe the scenario correctly. I have my male husky, and my friend has a 2 year female and a 6shot month old boy. The female growls, pins him and he pees, tjen he humps the 6 month old boy

LOL......... talk about embarrassment. Beat up by a girl thus the submissive peeing, but then takes it out on the lil guy to show he isn't the bottom rung of the dog life ladder.
