Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Just gave Adobo & Biko their last Interceptor this afternoon and decided to see if I can get it cheaper then last time. Instead I found out this..............

Novartis has stopped producing and/or shipping the above medications - Interceptor, Sentinel, Program, Deramaxx and Clomicalm - for an indefinite period of time. This affects veterinarians and pharmacies everywhere. Please rest assured we will do everything we can to offer these medications as soon as they become available.

In the meantime... We have compiled a list of alternative medications for your consideration.

I found this which explains it as due to a factory closure following FDA concerns. It doesn't say how long it will take before they get production back.

Here in BC there is a shortage of morphine and some other drugs at the moment which will affect people and veterinary practice. That's because of problems at a pharmaceutical company too. Seems like there are too few companies supplying drugs and so when one suspends production, it's hard or impossible to get elsewhere.

I received a letter from the distributor of my allergy medicine saying it would be unavailable for a while as well. Haven't been able to find any more info on that though...Strange.

O yea, this has been going on for about a month and a half, we barely have any supplies left so the clinic i work at is switching to Trifexis and Comfortis. And for the heartworms the Drs are contemplating getting some Heartgard on hand. Sucks since both of those are way more expensive than Interceptor.

I saw that on FB a little while ago. Funny thing is I was thinking, "oh no! I better stock up! Not for my girls, but for my reef tank!" Reefers use interceptor to kill "red bugs" that will eat your coral and kill it. I bet they're freaking out about it on the reef forums too! lol.

The sucks part is right for the first thing that entered my mind was PRICE increase and a easy way to go about it. I've been using Interceptor short of forever and never had any problems with it. It my preferred choice and really am not looking forward to switching to something else. I have a month to try and locate some, then if haven't I might take you up on your offer kevo.
