Knowing nothing about Modesto and Bakersfield...

Couldn't these owners look into potentially surrenduring their Sibes to rescues? Seems like a much better option for the Sibe, and would get them on their way to responsible and caring owner.

Bakersfield is close enough that the local rescues cover that area - and unfortunately, everyone is full. Unless they can find a foster, that dog will end up in the pound. And it has a 50% chance of living at that point. People suck.

It's puppy season here in LA we're seeing a huge amount of dogs being turned in, especially seniors. I can only implore people to rescue, foster if they can, and donate to local rescues to help save them. Husky Camp, Alley's Rescued Angels, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue (Has a husky division), Husky Haven, etc. Alley is allow out of town adoptions, so please consider her if you're looking for a new family member. Following her facebook page is heartbreaking - I donate what I can and try to educate and promote rescue. That, and I flag BYBs on craigslist.

Giving up on a Senior is criminal in my book. Nothing makes me more angrier than abandoning a dog when they need you the most!

Agreed. I'm working for a rescue here in Florida and today we had some assclown call the rescue because he's moving and can't take his 14 YEAR OLD Husky with him. Moving into an apartment that's not pet friendly. Way not cool!

I can't wait till me and my boyfriend get the house that the company he works for is giving him... I want to foster for Norsled out of Frisco Bay. Me and Cory are both in agreement. Hopefully within a year! Fingers crossed...

I went to the shelter today to do an eval for the rescue and the 8 year old girl (turned out to be Akita and so adorable) was rooming with a 10 year old GSD girl that so desperately wanted to play with me and get out of there. The lady that dropped off the 8 year old then went to the kennels to go look at younger dogs. People suck. She's lucky I wasn't there when that happened. I always say something if I see someone surrendering a dog. If it makes them think twice, I've done by job. One guy ended up taking his white GSD back home and looking for lower kill shelters to surrender him to.
