| I have 2 poms, a girlfriend and a 50 lb husky to share a queen size bed with. I cannot get Kya to understand the end of the bed is where she belongs.
Has anyone had any luck with training your husky as to where she/he sleeps? I have tried on the floor but we have a platform bed so she will just jump up here anyways.
This is important bc we are looking into another husky lol |

| Polar is not allowed on the bed (or any furniture), period. It's a rule I set when she was still a puppy. So now even if no one is around, she will not get on our bed. And right now our bed is just a crash pad (if you don't know what it is just imagine a thin mattress) on the floor, it's really on the same level as her bed, but she understands it's off limit to her. |

| I like kya on the bed, mainly bc I have troble getting up sometimes and she will push against me lie a brace to help me out of bed, and i feel better knowing she is within reach if I need her. I just cant stand that she thinks she needs to sleep in the MIDDLE of the bed lol.
She is a service dog as well, so i need her close to me. |

| when we brought Blaze home he was 9 months old and we told him right off he was not allow on the furniture or the bed that is a rule in our house we had the same rule with our previous dog.
The only time Blaze has gotten on the sofa is when he was mad at me or wanted my attention. He never had gotten on the bed.
Added that he has two beds one in the living room and one in our bedroom.

| Maybe get Kya a special blanket or towel that you can designate as her "place" to lay on. So that way she learns to lay on her designated blanket/towel only and wherever you put her blanket/towel on the bed is where she is expected to lay. It's not hard to teach but will take patience, persistence, and consistency. If she moves off the blanket then calmly and firmly put her back in her proper place, I use positive reinforcement to reward them when they follow my instruction the first time. Lots of praise when they go to their "place" on their own without you having to physically move them there. You can also use vocal corrections and body blocking to keep them from moving off their place if she tries to move up next to you away from the end of the bed.
I trained all three of my dogs to lay on special dog blankets and fleece blankets. They know that wherever there is a dog blanket or fleece blanket on the floor or furniture is where they are allowed to lay down. After they are well trained to lay on the blankets you can move those blankets anywhere you want and they know to lay on the blanket regardless of where it is placed. _________________ |

| Lol, Kya has a dog bed in every room. She looks at them and then at me like " those are for you RIGHT?" lol.
Val, I will try that. We trained Drama to sleep on a pillowat the head of the bed, so I will try the blanket. Kya is much more stubborn than Drama, so we shall see!! Thanks for the suggestion. |

| Sharing is not a word my boys understand. I admit I like having my dogs with me either on the couch or the bed. If I was worried about keeping the house and furniture clean I would own fish. |

| river will sleep in the bed aslong as my husband isnt in it, but once he comes to bed river moves to our leather couch he seems to stay cooler on it but i treat him like a child so he pretty much can go where ever he wants, my chihuahua sleeps under the covers with me as well but he is usually cold and wants to get warm |

haha. This is very true. I have several friends that wont come over bc our furniture always has dog hair on it. My reply: My house, not yours. CBHART: My pomeranians sleep with me as well, one under the covers and the other on a pillow at the head of the bed. Kya will sometimes get under the covers, but mostly she likes to lay in the center of my bed no matter how many people are in it |

That explains everything so well. Thank you for my new FB status Right now, I have leather couches that can get scratched. I love the leather for the easy clean, but miss micro-suede for the wear-and-tear resistance lol. So Indy isn't allowed on the couches. Indy used to NEVER want to be on the bed. If I picked him up and put him on it, he just stood there for .0002 seconds then jumped off. NOW, you can't get him off lol. He just bounces all over the place, but his favorite place to sleep is at the top of the bed right next to my head. He's turning into such a cuddle bug and momma's boy that I don't want to change it |

That's how Kya was. We used to have a very high bed and she never wanted up there. Would get mad if we put her up there. Now, we say "It's bed time" and she is on the bed before anyone else. And if we are up past 10 pm, we can't find her. She is already on the bed. lol. She will come to us and look at us and then look at the hallway, then back at us. Then take a few steps and repeat the process. She does this the ENTIRE way into the room if she is ready for bed and we aren't. It's funny too, because we have baby gates up to keep the little dogs out of the cat box, and she can literally step over them (they are very low ones bc I have trouble getting over them) and she will sit and cry until you open it for her. She thinks she can't get over them. Silly dog. |

| The blanket/towel idea is not to keep fur off the bed if that's what people think I am implying. The point of the blanket/towel is a visual/physical marker indicating to the dog where you expect them to be. None of us would have a sibe if we cared about fur on our furniture. _________________ |

I understood Kya had a special blankie that she goes everywhere with so we are going to start putting that on the bed to see if she will sleep on it. |

I understood Val, I was just relating why I let mine on the couch and bed. Because I like it and not worried about the mess. |

| Val's, blanket suggestion is a good one. ours each have a dog bed and they know its theirs, also for camping they have their "own" beds so they know where to sleep in the tent, we don't have an issue with the bed, they either all ready sleep between us but at the foot of the bed or on their beds, i try to get them to snuggle between us some nights and they put up with me for a few mins. then move. can you get a king bed? _________________ |

| We have talked about getting a king bed, but it wont fit in our current house (We have a 1940s home and the rooms are small) AND we just bought the platform bed. It's a storage bed with drawers on each side, eliminating the need for an extra dresser in the room. When I graduate and get a decent job *fingers crossed* we are hoping to get a bigger house and then we can get a king size bed, but right now, it just wont fit |

| Biko start the night off every night up on the bed, I love it. I'm to old for a teddy bear so I cuddle up to him. He usually jumps down within 15-20 minutes. Later at night he'll nudge me to come back up for a quick warm up and then back down again.
Adobo very seldom is even in the bedroom once we come in for the night, I swear she's a female hermit. |

| Our 2 are allowed on the bed and furniture. We have cats so if the cats are allowed then they are to. I put top sheets on the sofa and chair to minimize the hair. But I do not know but 1 person an she has her own chair to sit in. My husband has 2 friends 1 lives in Miami so they do not come over much and the other I think is some sort of horder I think so he does not care. But the bed Nero our GSD sleeps at the foot on my hubbys side and Thor sleeps in the middle. |

| Cali - is allowed but won't do it, she stays at my house. I have tried to get her to just sit on the bed and as long as I can get her to sit there is less than a minute, she doesn't relax there
Mika- is allowed to when over but only wants to be on the bed at first part of the sleep, then an hour left of sleep because she gets off and on the bed at those points (thanks mika). Furniture wise Mika wants to be on my lap reguardless. |
