Figured I'd post this so you guys can learn from my mistakes. I learned today that Lilies are toxic. I knew about a lot of the foods and things like poinsettias, but the lilies escaped me. We had a bunch of peace lilies under the Chuppah at the wedding, and they wound up on our back porch. We opened the back door earlier because Aaron set off the smoke alarm making pancakes, and Ghost went out to play on the porch. While she was out there, she tore up and possibly ingested one of the plants. Looks like it's mostly still there, just scattered in pieces on the porch. So I called the ASPCA poison control line and they said it wasn't life threatening and to give her a little milk to dilute the irritant in the lilies.

I've come to the conclusion I have 2 year old me in dog form, and I'm now getting paid back for everything I did as a toddler...

That is about what happened to me and Bob about two months ago. I did not know Elephant ears were poisonous. My other two dogs never went near them. Well one of the branches somehow fell off the bush and bob went to play with it. I slowly went over and tried to take it away and of course he ran but dropped some of its leaves. I looked up and saw he had the larger ear and was stripping it when he let out a yell. He started choking and heaving. I brought some water to him but was not enough. Called the emergency vet they told me to rinse his mouth out. I then called the Poison Control too and they told me to give him milk to dilute it. He was fine and we went over and tore up every Elephant ear that was within reach of Bob and cut the neighbors too that was hanging over the fence. I now went over each plant in the yard or neighbors to see if any more are posionous. I learned my lesson with that one.

Ghost is fine now, we spent a little over an hour at the park and she hasn't exhibited any ill effects. They said if she was going to we would have seen it by now. I gotta say, I wasn't thinking about that at all when the lilies got dumped at my house after the wedding.
