I am new and Massak is new to me. (massak means 'soft snow' in eskimo) I have had Massak a little more than a month now from the shelter. He is not pure husky so I hope he is welcome here. I am pretty confident he is a husky/samoyed mix. He is young and bursting with energy. He loves to play with other dogs and loves all people. He gets to play and run in woods with other dogs alot! I live in the mountains and am very active myself, and he gets to join me all the time hiking, skiing, etc, often with other people and dogs. And boy can he run fast!!!! He has the life! I often hear that huskies can't be trusted off the leash, but I disagree. The only thing I have found is that he does not voluntarily jump into the car after an excursion somewhere when I call him! I have to go get him, or coax him with a treat or start to drive away or something till he jumps in, but I hope that gets better. He has a natural mane on his back which is interesting, but overall he is a striking young man. Here are some pictures to introduce him to the rest of the pack.

Still getting a grasp on which of his traits are husky and which samoyed. He is happiest in the snow, but also loves to chase things! He stays within eyesight of me when we are ever out, but he does take off after deer a lot and runs way out of site! Luckily the deer usually have a good 50 yard head start or he would be catching them. So far, he always comes back, usually running just as fast as he runs away! Like below:







I just hate leaving him alone during the day cooped up inside because I know he is miserable and I don't really have a yard for him to run, so today I dropped him off for the first time at a friends house to play and hike with other doggies that are there. Hopefully he stays with the pack!

yes apparently he did! I was told he played non stop all day with the other dogs, got to go on a hike, and then went swimming in a pond! I guess we are both blessed to live in such a great area where he has so much freedom to be the dog he is supposed to be.

I just picked him up and he collapsed as soon as he got in the house. HA! Worn out husky = joy for owner some days
