2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

There have been a LOT of CL huskies in my area lately. Sad I know of 2 husky rescues in my region (harry houdini and nothern lights) and that at least one has a fb page. Is it appropriate to post CL listings when you are not actively involved with the rescue, or just annoying since they already have a need of more foster homes?

I would prefer to keep CL postings out of the rescue missions forum. Honestly? CL dogs are always going to be there. It's a sad but honest truth. The rescue mission forum is more for people who are directly involved in the rescue of a dog or for emergent situations. We prefer that rescues use it or people looking to rehome a dog, etc.

I don't mind when people post CL dogs when they are personally considering adopting the dog, but other than that, those postings don't have much of a place here.

If you really want to help these dogs, volunteer your time with a rescue or a shelter. Reposting CL ads on this forum isn't going to actually make an impact. That's just my $.02 though.

I'm not talking about posting them here. I'm wondering if people who are active in rescues would view that sort of thing (people putting CL listings on that particular rescue's facebook page) as 'acceptable' or 'well meaning, but annoying'. Smile I'm guessing it's the second, but I'm not familiar with rescue ettiquette.

I can't answer for the rescues Smile Why don't you email them and ask what they would prefer?

ETA: A lot of postings are scams as well. A rescue isn't going to pay a rehoming fee, so there's really very little they could do unless it's a "Free to a good home" posting which aren't really allowed on CL anyway.

I think they may help a little posting them. Some people who post on CL really do not care who the dogs goes to. So if there is a chance that a rescue can save a dog from going to someone that might abuse the dog or a kill shelter. I see a lot of free dogs and cats on there and I wonder. It's been know that people that need "bait dogs" will surf CL looking for free dogs to use and also in some areas that have research labs will pay people to bring in dogs and cats. So people looking for money will also try to get free animals from CL.

Rescues are usually overwhelmed with saving dogs from immediate euthanasia or breeding mills. I guess it depends on the area of the country. I would contact each rescue of they don't list their policy on their page.

Our rescue has posted them on their own page. It just depends. Daily SFSHR posts all Sibes in local animal controls because they can't take any more. They're hoping for these dogs to gain some exposure and be adopted by someone who may have a little more breed knowledge. I think it's down to each individual rescue because the one north of us doesn't like people posting other dogs in need on it's FB page.

Well it really depends. If the poster puts things like taking to spca today, I do post them on fb rescue. I have forwarded many dogs to our rescues up here. Sometimes I flag posts. There was a puppy flipper on our facebook. They buy puppies and sell them on craigslist! I try to save those pups!
