| I know this is a weird question but I'm having a hard time getting Aspen to pee on a regular basis. Do you think it's harmful for her if she waits up to 14 hours everyday before she will allow herself to pee? I'm guessing here, but since I was told she was kept in a storage unit by herself with her previous owners, maybe they only let her out once or twice a day so she is just used to holding it in that long. I just worry that is harmful for her. We have a pretty set routine here so I'm hoping she will start going more frequently. Sometimes she will go when we are on our walks, but that doesn't always work to get her to go either.

| Is she drinking enough water? I know mine would hold it until they were somewhere familiar (made our road trip nerve wracking) but eventually, when it got to be too much to bear, they'd go. I can't imagine it's good for her to do that on a continuous basis, just like it's not good for us humans. Hopefully in time she'll realize that it's okay to go when she needs to and not when she thinks she's allowed to.
Good Luck! |

| Yeah, she still drinks. Not a whole lot but not so little that it's alarming either...if that makes sense. All three pretty much drink at the same time and I always keep the water full. She probably is not used to unilimted access to water either. |

| Not sure. I had a dog growing up that would only go to the bathroom in our yard. She would never go on walks, which was nice, never had to carry a poop bag! However, when we went on vacation to our cabin, she would try and hold it as long as possible. It wasn't uncommon for her to not go pee for over 24 hours! It was insane, and really worried my parents every time it happened, but it never seemed to bother our hurt the dog, she lived to the ripe old age of 17. I bet she will be fine, its probably just a matter of time until she gets use to the routine. Water consumption probably has something to do with it too. Luka is not a big water drinker, and she use to have days where she would hold her pee for most of the day. Mixing water in with her food, and getting one of those drinkwell fountains helped increase her water consumption. |

I'm pretty sure she didn't go for 24 hours the other day. I was monitoring her pretty closely but thought maybe I just missed seeing her go cause I can't imagine her holding it that long! That makes me feel better to know your parents dog didn't have any lingering effects. |

| Our dog, Glory, was like that for the first few months that we had her. She didn't drink much and she rarely ever pee'd. Back then she might only pee once a day, if that. But she got a clean bill of health from the vet, was eating normally, and drinking at least some so I just let it be.
As she got more exercise and more comfortable living with us over the months she started peeing more and more frequently as her water intake increased. She's been with us for almost 2 years now and she still only pees maybe twice a day, some days less and other days more. She's not like any dog I've ever seen before in that regard but she's fine so I don't worry about it. _________________ |

| Adobo must have an oil drum for a bladder. Not uncommon at all for her to go 15-18 hours w/o the urge to relieve herself. |

| Willow has just recently worked her way up to 4 hours. Dakota was about every 4 hours as well. Piper I still take out every 2 hours cause she has had a couple of accidents if I waited longer than the 2 hours. Based of this, I didn't think a dog could hold it that long so it kinda scared me that she wasn't going. Aspen held it for 24 hours again today. Last time I could get her to pee was when I got home from work yesterday and I could not get her to go this morning before work. I'm glad to see this isn't so uncommon and she will be alright. |
