| I purchased a grooming glove the other day and it has seriously been one of the most amazing things I have ever purchased! Bella normally tries to eat her fur out of the normal comb/brush combo I have. But she absolutely LOVES this thing. It's pretty fantastic and thought I would share it with you all. It also doubles as a tool to pick up fur off of furniture and what not on the backside I also picked up some waterless shampoo and Bella has never looked nicer. Tons easier using that then actually trying to give her a bath. _________________ |

| amagawd it's seriously awesome.
I'm pretty sure Bella loves the way it feels and I've noticed an incredible difference in her shedding from before with just the brush every few days to this + the shampoo. _________________ |

| I fill in Diesel's holes in his dog run with red clay.... he looks like hes been into the cheetos like crazy these last couple weeks since its been raining off and on making the red come up out of the ground.... I need a better way to wash him because my shower is sliding glass and cuts into my legs if I try to bathe him -.- So water hose + this + shampoo (or waterless shampoo after the hose ) = easier life and less pain! Lol. Does waterless shampoo get sudsy and you have to rinse? Or do you just rub it in? |

| Lucky! I can only hose her off for a few months out of the year when it's really hot up here. I don't like her getting too wet when it's extremely windy/cool and right now it's the dead of winter lol.
Bella doesn't get to experience digging - she did it once. Never again.
The waterless shampoo I just spray it on her (wet or dry - I did it dry because it's easier) then I used the brush, comb and grooming glove (the glove worked the best) and then brush the shampoo through the coat so it spreads evenly and then you just towel dry with a dry towel.
No suds, no rinsing - nothing. It was actually pretty fantastic and quick. _________________ |

| That sounds absolutely awesome, will definitely try that the next time he goes to the vet. I feel like every time I go (which is only every 6 months) he looks like he's been living on the streets. >_< |

| O.o how come every 6 months? And I'll tell you what - it is super awesome. Bella only likes going into the bathtub on her own terms (mainly when someone is already showering) so trying to bath her is a ridiculous pain.
During the summer it's a lot easier to give her a bath but this just eliminated the need to do it lol.
I didn't buy any special kind either - I got this at Target because that's where I found the glove. It's just Hartz Groomers Best waterless 3 in 1 solution Cleanses, Freshens and Deodorizes skin and coat (not that she smells). It was 4.24 on clearance and I didn't want to spend the 10 dollars on shampoo at cherrybrook since she's not a show dog lol. _________________ |

| I have looked at the gloves also and wondered if they work. Thanks for the info I will have to go get one now. I already use the waterless shampoo on Thor in between washing it can only do so much on an all white dog. |

| I volunteer at the local shelter.... to put it simply that place is horrid. I don't think they have a care in the world about any of those animals and they are a 501c3 non-profit, but they seem obsessed with money. I've NEVER seen a special to help adopt animals out, that place is massively infested with sickness (my fiance's family adopted a pup from there that came down with kennel cough that almost killed her and that was not her only issue), and the director is a total b!tch. I volunteer there because it's already a 20 minute drive and the next closest one is an hour. I was in love with a husky that was at the local one.... he was beautiful, majestic, calm, and very sweet. They EUed him and that's why I go up there. I feel like maybe if I play with one more or take one more for a walk (that's really about all I can do up there as a volunteer) maybe they will be just that one bit more adoptable that someone gets them.
Sorry to go on a rant, to the point, I go every 6 months for the bordatella shot as that is what my vet recommends and I don't want to risk it with me volunteering. I have plenty of money for the $15 shot but not so much for the potential $300 bill if I have to come in on the weekend with a sick dog. I'm doing Diesel's core every 3 years and his rabies every year since that is what is required by law here. I hope I will live somewhere eventually that requires that every 3 too. |

| I was skeptical of the glove - but it was only 10 bucks at target and its made by Bamboo. I had already gone on a dog shopping spree that day X_X. Dog food, Elk antler, Kong Wubba - I figured she (I) needed grooming supplies! lol So bought the glove and the shampoo and a nail grinder for her dew claws.
I guess I'm blessed with having a black and white and dirt is only noticeable on parts of her. xD _________________ |

| Good on you for the help you're trying to give to that shelter! They sound pretty awful - but I know what you're talking about. My local shelter in town is a no-kill but the one in the next city up (allentown) has one of the worst kill shelters. The owners are exactly as you described yours - not a care in the world for the animals. They're trying to get it put under new management/owners or to get it switched to a no-kill. I didn't realize places still had every year required shots. Bella gets her not-puppy-rabies shot this june-ish that I think will be the three year shot. That's great though that they'll do the shot every 6 months. The vet that I was previously going to would only do yearly shots/boosters which I was okay with since Bella isn't at an abnormally high risk for anything- but I don't go there anymore. _________________ |

| Yeah I honestly love my vet. The vet that owns the clinic I've never actually met, it was right when I moved here that he had Dr. Prachyl (my vet) join his staff. There is only the two of them since its a rural vet. Dr. Prachyl graduated probably within the last 5 years I'd guess from vet school at TAMU. He said at college station they require the rabies only every 3 years and it completely depends on the town/city. My town is so small, they probably haven't even heard of giving the rabies shot every 3 years, but he also says that is !VERY! bad here (rabies) and that it probably doesn't hurt to give it every year around here. That clinic also won't even let you board without getting your bordatella every 6 months, so they take it pretty seriously. He said he wont come twist my arm if I don't come in in 6 months though, but I probably still will. I like him, he was totally on board with me wanting to do all the shots every three years, and I think that says something.
I've put off volunteering until Xiah has all of her shots again. I'm very busy with school (taking 18!!! hours this semester to try to graduate) so maybe this summer I can go volunteer again. She will have all of her shots about the same week I have finals, and then she will get spayed right after. After that's over I plan on going back. I always want to take another home with me every time I go. That husky's face still haunts me though, and is why I want to create or help a rescue when I own my own home. |

| Your vet sounds pretty awesome! My boyfriend basically wants a dog farm X_X. I think he'd ideally want to save each and every Siberian we come across but realistically it's not possible unfortunately. I know at least we'll always have two Siberians at any given time - starting next year with the addition of my show puppy. Once everything settles down with my family and we move - we plan on getting some land with something like a longhouse/barn on the property that we can fix up (if needed) for the dogs. Him and my mother both want to get another Pyrenees so that will happen somewhere down the line - and at one point in my life I NEED to have either a Puli or a Komondor. Probably 10 or more years down the line I'll probably get into breeding Siberians (I'll have one of the most reputable kennels to learn from) and become actively involved with rescues probably sooner than that - once everything settles down and I figure out where I'll be. I'll probably end up with a very small kennel of my own somehow - which is something that I never wanted lol. _________________ |

| I've thought about breeding.... but I had SUCH anxiety about where Kiba (husky I rescued from EU at a vet clinic an hour away, she didn't like Diesel so I adopted her out..... ) was going to go that I don't think I could handle having pups and selling them.... I might actually have a mental breakdown not knowing where they are at any given time, if they are being properly vetted, if they're warm and safe... it would kill me. I know if I rescued though those dogs would definitely have a better life than death or what they had before, so that makes me feel better and I think I could handle that. I would love to have some sort of facility but I realize that is unrealistic and I will probably have to have foster homes |

| Breeding is something I actually DON'T want to do. Not so much as because I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to properly find them homes/keep track of them - because as a good breeder I'd do all of that or even be able to let them go (my boyfriend will have a HUGE problem letting puppies go lol).
I guess in my eyes it's a lot of hassle? Maybe hassle isn't the right word. I can't really explain it - I've just never wanted to do it. Like my friend with the Corgi's - she wanted to breed and still wants to breed (albeit for all of the wrong reasons but still). I was there for her and her bitch when the puppies were born - I went through the ordeal. There is just SO MANY things that can go wrong even if you take as many precautions as you can to make sure the absolute minimum can only go wrong - something can still happen.
I also know I'll get involved in breeding anyway because I want there to be healthy puppies out there. I don't want someone to end up with another Bella where at 7 months old I had resign myself to the fact that she might not make it passed two years old - and if she makes it passed two - well she might not make it passed five etc etc, ya know? I want to be apart of what makes the Siberian Husky breed better - to help work to lowering the risks of the diseases within the breed through research.
I have big plans to help in both purebred and in rescues - it may take me 10, 20 or even 30 or more years to even see any progress or even to get them started but that is eventually my goal.
As far as facilities - like I said I'll end up with a kennel that right now I know I don't want lol and it'll start like I said with a little bit of land and a longhouse/barn type deal. Boyfriend already said any house we move in will have to have a basement set up to be a whelping space. X_X and the barn/longhouse will all be heated and done up for the dogs (even though I KNOW they'll all be in the house as well). Big plans! Just isn't happening right now lol _________________ |
