Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I have 2 Huskies (Thor and Hermes) and 3 cats (Morgana, Merlin and Gwen). No issues here. The boys love to chase the cats when outside, but it's all in play. The cats play along too. My one cat Gwen loves Hermes SO much, she annoys him until he gives up and hides under the bed.

Thor was from a breeder (a bad one, so he's kinda like a rescue) and Hermes is his son, who was rescued from the pound (really long amazing story).

With a small pup I think that socializing with cats is enough, but with older rescue dogs, it can be iffy. I guess you just have to watch thier interactions.

I also had another rescue Husky, Apollo, 7 years ago who we cleaned up and nursed back to health who was a great dog living with 3 cats. Until a year after we had him, then like one day to the next he suddenly became a cat killer. We found him a wonderful cat-free home.

Nunya play bows at Kick Start and will bark at him, then Kick Start just meows like a baby and stares at him, so Nunya leaves him alones or just licks his face or, like today, puts Kick Starts head in his mouth. However, Psycho does not like dogs and will run or walk vary quickly (I think he's learning not to run) and Nunya will chase or just follow him while Psycho hisses or meows. And the cats have the entire second floor of the house as a safe zone.

When we had our doberman, she knew that our cats were not prey and wouldn't chase them, but if she ran away she would kill a cat if she could catch it :/
The lady across the street feed feral cats so there were usually a few around, but many knew how to climb trees.
