| Alright Guys, Delilah is on a bland diet now. She is also on Antibiotics an anti fungal and probiotics. She started having blood in her stool yesterday and diarrhea. Today there is no blood, but she is still have a liquidy stool. I started her on the bland diet and I am hoping she will get a firmer stoool soon. In your experiences when should it become firm again, and should I give her some pumpkin to help her stool?
Thanks. |

| Yes! Pumpkin is magical! Start her out with 2 tablespoons and add up to a cup! |

| Hope she feels better soon, how long has she been on the antibiotics and what is she being treated for? Pumpkin may or may not help and remember it's just a temporary fix. She may not get back to normal stools until she's done being treated as the antibiotics will kill off the good bacteria in her digestive track along with the bad. It really depends, there's no set amount of time to expect recovery as it will vary based on the meds she's on, how long she's on them, and her sensitivity. _________________ |

| She is on a strong dose of amoxcillian(sp?) and a probiotic. To help keep the good bacteria in her intestine. She is being treated for an infection in her lower intestine. So far she is doing a lot better, she is wanting to play and run again, and the stool has no, blood it is just a little runny. That also may be because all she is eating is chicken an rice , and she isn't used to it. She certainly isn't complaining about the change in diet...haha |

| How much longer does she have left on the antibiotics? I'm surprised they're using Amoxicillin for the intestines, my vet told me they had to use a different antibiotic for the intestines to kill the anaerobic bacteria found there. My vet uses Metronidazole for anaerobic bacteria in the intestines. Either way she may experience runny or soft stool while on the meds and even for a short time after whether she is on a normal or bland diet due to the upsets and changes taking place in her digestive track...just a word of warning. I would recommend feeding chicken and eggs instead of chicken and rice. Rice is just a filler that often causes stomach upset in sibes. If you are looking for other non-rice fillers that tend to be fairly easy on the stomach there's also green beans, sweet potato, carrots, and the aforementioned pumpkin. _________________ |

| Yea as I was reading this thread earlier I was wondering why they were using Amoxi as well That doesn't treat the large intestines, it treats the small intestines... |

| She is on both...I thought I typed that but guess not. Thankfully she takes the met and the amounts amox quite well. I am worried about under feeding her, as im not used to feeding any kind of meat, just kibble. She definitely seems very excited to eat though haha |
