So, for those of you who don't know who Panzer is, she is my 1yr old Alaskan husky sled dog washout rescue that I got 3month ago. She was kept outside, never really trained, and came to me with more issues than a 5 yr subscription to tv guide.

In 3 months, she has learned to get along with our dogs and that we don't want to kill her..

Since she has started responding somewhat to "come here" and suddenly started wanting to play with the rest of the pack last week, I decided to take my 3 of the 6 dogs out to the big dog park in the area.

Panzer did really well chasing around my dogs. She let some labs join in, but got standoffish toward a large hairy dog, and a german shephard (more fearful than dominant, to be sure) luckily, those dogs proceeded to chase Panzer around, and my dogs joined in. After a couple minutes, Panzer realized that the dogs all wanted to play, and that even if they wanted to kill her, she was leaps and bounds faster than any dog at the park.

We stayed for 3 hours, and my 3 played while orbiting the area around where I was walking. When it came time to go, Panzer came right up to the leash. It was a magnificent success!

That's a great success! Three hours - wow!! That is some pooped pups. Isn't progress great!

...but aren't huskies usually the baddest dogs at the park?
Before I owned my Alaskan, I used to see 4 or 5 siberians of different owners at the smaller dog park by my previous house. The owners would always be so quick to scold their dogs for playing too rough with the non-huskies. I think they were reliieved to have my Dingo and Lab there, because all my dogs have husky brains when it comes to play time, and I encouraged the huskies to show my dogs that their shit stinks too.

Thats great that she did so well! I don't take my girls to the dog park anymore, I'm tired of people there. I'll just get a scooter and wear them out that way. Though I'll only take one or two on that, might be a tad too fast with three.

You know, I've had maybe 3 negative interactions with people at dog parks out here. Its just a Seattle thing. We love dogs. They even have a couple bars and restaurants down here that work extra hard on food safety so that the health inspectors don't fail them for being dog friendly. The most often occuring dialogue at the park is one person telling their dog to behave while it roughs up someone elses dog, just to have the second owner say "no, no, let her kick his ass, he needs it". I mean ignorant owners are everywhere, and I've got battlewounds from tearing apart a labradoodle and a retriever at a park, but its luckily very rare. Rough play among the normal social dog crowd is encouraged and monitored by all. Heck, just last week I got stuck in a conversation for a half hour, and when I finished I found my dogs playing fetch with a guy while his dog dug to China. I am rambling, but I really love our dog parks

Seattle is just awesome. I'd love to live there one of these days.

Honestly we've really only had one negative experience, and that was over by Mobile when that douche canoe who runs the BYB out that way showed up with his dogs. His dogs were fine, everyone got along, he just started beating the shit out of them if he didn't like what they were doing. Needless to say, the H2M2 broke up pretty quickly after that. Here in Pensacola though, we've really only had positive experiences.

Yeah, Suka thinks he's the 'king' at the dog park all the time. Other dogs tell him off for humping them, which I find it great because then I don't have to correct him myself! Humping is a normal behaviour, and usually dogs sort out their hierarchy on their own, but some people here get really...er...anal about it. They claim Suka's 'gay' when he humps their male dog.

Stupid people.

I really love the main group of people that come to the dog park near my house, but there are also some really ignorant people that come and kind of ruin the fun. If you don't want your dog to play rough, don't bring it to the dog park. I don't get what people expect their dogs to do at the park if it isn't rolling around on the ground with everyone else.

I know! That annoys me too, that's what dogs do...they play rough and they get dirty!

I wish Suka would play with other dogs, though. All he does is trot around, and pee on stuff, then once he's out of pee, he'll pretend to pee on stuff. He does this for HOURS.

It's rare he'll play with other dogs, but when he does play, usually there's humping on both sides and the other owner usually doesn't like that...

Wow, I don't even know what Id do if someone accused my dog of homosexuality for doing som dominance humping.. I live with 6 girl dogs. They humped the shit out of each other for a few months.

I do love the Seattle dog parks the one near my is pretty friendly the only negative experiences I've had have been with smaller dog owners, and mainly the owners not the dogs. Their tiny dog would be chasing and playing with my guy, no aggression no whines and the owners would freak out because they think my dog is going to destroy theirs. I had a lady pick her dog up give me the stink eye and leave once! Oh I'm sorry your dog was enjoying playing...silly people

Where abouts in Seattle do you live Eric? I'd love to find more huskies for my guy to play with!

I live up North in Bothell. The dog park I like best is Willis Tucker, but I also love going to the park at Magnuson Beach in the summer, so my dogs can get wet. I would love to find another husky for Panzer to pal around with, my other dogs are social butterflies as well.
