| Due to the popular demand of the HOTM contests, the staff has changed the eligibility requirements of the HOTM Forum and contests. We are a young forum, only about 3 years old. When we were smaller, it made sense to open the HOTM competitions out to everyone. However, as we grow, and each competition rakes in 50+ submissions, we need a way to limit the number of submissions and reward members who are loyal to the forum. While at heart we believe everyone should have the opportunity to submit and participate, it's also discouraging and frustrating when new members post a photo and then bail on the forum, never to be seen again.
Therefore, HOTM submissions will only be accepted by members with a post count of 100 or more. We believe this will help to limit the number of submissions and reward members who are active and regularly participate on the forum. However, ALL members will still be able to view the competition and vote. We will also start a separate thread under a different sub-forum to discuss monthly submissions (since only members with 100 posts will be able to post in the HOTM forum).
So that there is no confusion, there are 3 Admin and 2 moderators on this forum and this decision was unanimous. We have seen this tactic successful on other boards and while it may take a period of adjustment, we are confident that our community will be accepting and understanding of the need for this change.
If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to either myself or Harrise.
Thank you, ~Tori Forum Owner/Administrator _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| What about the number of dogs in pic equates to number of months you're intelligible rule? That means I cant play for 5 months _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| Great idea! I would also suggest you discuss Kristina's request. We are getting new members with sled teams now! I personally love seeing the multiple-husky HOTM pictures. Perhaps they not be able to enter every month, but 5-6 months without Mr. Handsome Mickey is just too many!! LOL! |

| new regs seem to work for me. I do agree with questioning the limitation of how many months you are out like Kristina brought back up. |

| Now that there are more members I think the "Kristina Rule" could be done away with totally. With the recent large amounts of submissions each month the chances of one pooch being the winner each month has changed dramatically. |

| I think a three month maximum is enough. Any more than that is just plum crazy. It shouldn't be an issue, just give us a day or two to actually reach a consensus. |

You can always post Dakota in a scrapbook thread. Welcome from a fellow Okie. Join the H2M2 (husky huddle malamute mingle) Oklahoma group on Facebook. We have fun meetups once a month. |

The only problem is, it's my wife that joined to post pictures, and she's not big on getting into "meaty" discussions, she leaves that to me. As such, I don't think you'll be seeing many more pictures of our pups. |

I don't have the time to get on here everyday. I work full time(8 hrs. 5 days) between that hubby, the pups and volunteering.....you get my point. I always look forward to HOTM, looks like I'll be spending what little time I have posting them on FB from now on. The minimum should be 50. 100 is stretching it for those like me. It also looks to me like it will be the same group to pick from over and over...... |

| Ive been here about 7 months, and usually enter the hotm. And I alway think that the cutest or best themed pic usually wins. If you dont like it, take more pics of your dogs. And o dont think 100 is stretching it al all. Even in my short time here, I have seen many people post a few questions and them never be seen again. If you dont like discussions, then dont join a forum. Just my two cents. |

| You're right, I don't like it. I feel like it's punishing all for the deeds of a few bad apples. I am a moderator for another forum, I know there are other ways of doing this. Moderators have the ablility to see who is on the site and when they are on. It really should be based on how many times the person visits the site. All the mod/cl has to do is click on that persons profile to make sure the # of visits makes them eligible. Though I would hope the poster would read the guidelines first and post when they are eligible. I really try had to get on here everyday, but that doesn't always happen. From your post, I seems you think that I have a problem with who's photo is picked. It's not like that at all. I think that doing it this way limits those who have a great photo that could win from entering. This goes back to what I said before, I would love to post if I felt I had something worth posting. I don't feel like I should have to spam(post something corny) on a thread, just to be able to enter HOTM. It's takes all the fun out of it. Someone also suggested that if you have more than 50 submissions, split it in half and the top 5 from each poll goes to the next round for a chance to be voted the winner. That's a great idea and perfectly fair. I think the current way would only serve to run more people off than keep them. |

| So far I have not seen any way to see how many times/how often a person visits this site. There weren't any real "bad apples" in that thread. You must understand that I am usually the one handling all of these threads, and I don't have much interest in making thread upon thread to find a picture on the side bar of some site on the internet. We're lucky if I get something done within five days of the end/beginning of the month.
It wasn't meant to cause anyone to feel slighted. But if it's left to mostly me to do the HOTM threads, then you can count on me taking the laziest path of least resistance.
I watch threads and posts all day long. But one thing I cannot tell you is who posted what for 90% of the forum (mostly just skimming for links and spam). I had no idea "husky of the month" was such a thing.
¿Maybe this is another way in which we aren't like other forums? |

¿Maybe this is another way in which we aren't like other forums? I can understand that. I have a suggestion. Someone already suggested it last month. Maybe limit to the first 75 submissions(or higher if you want) then half it into 2 polls. Top 5(or less) go to the next poll for the winner to be selected. Like I said before, I would like to post when I feel I could contribute something worth while. It makes posting alot more fun. |

| I just know that it will be me making those polls and that means it will be either late or later than that. You underestimate my procrastination and tardiness.
And if you want to talk about limits, I would suggest first 50 because that's easier to deal with. If we went that route and had the runner's ups be the next theme deciders if someone should bail, would that make more sense? |
