I'm not sure if this belongs in puppy biting or not, so if it does I apologize. Anyways, Vegeta isn't a fan of being petted (Is that a word? lol). He loves attention, and even as I write this is jumping on my leg and getting in my way with his favorite fox toy. However, when I go to pet him his immediate reaction is to open his mouth and lead with teeth. He hardly ever actually bites down and when he does its never hard, but his teeth are still sharp and it's quite annoying, especially when friends go to pet him and he starts to go for their hands. So I guess my main thing is how to stop this. Since it is "playing" per say how can I get across that leading with his teeth isn't okay when he is being petted.

Royce did (and still does) the same thing. I'm assuming by the pictures that Vegeta is pretty young and he is doing two things: Trying to assert dominance and (this is the worst phase) teething. This is a phase that will eventually end, but what you have to do to assert your dominance, is grab him gently on his muzzle and hold it shut for a few seconds, look at him directly in the eyes (VERY IMPORTANT), and tell him in a serious tone, "NO" or "STOP" (Whatever word you wanna use). He'll most likely try to jerk away, but you need to do it immediately when he does bite, so then he'll get the notion that if he tries to bite you, he'll get his muzzle shut. As I've said before, I'm in the same boat as you. If I'm petting Royce, sometimes he'll try to bite at me, but I'll push his face away and tell him "NO BITING." He usually stops right away. Just remember that although it's very annoying and sometimes painful what your dog is doing and even though he's trying his best with his little puppy brain to assert dominance, in the end, he's just trying to play with you.

Koda does the exact same thing.. But if he is sleepy he loves being pet. And usually someone new he will just roll over and want them to pet his belly which is good.. But them afyer gettig pet for a hile or if he is round up and wants to play it turns into mouthing.. He has gotten a lot better since i got him but he still does it.. Im consistsnt on telling him no bite and trying to get him to stop. But im hoping once he is done teething it will be a lot better.. He just lost his first 2 pupppy teeth last nite

I'd read the puppy biting sticky. Puppy BitingThere are a lot of different methods that are addressed. The thing to remember is to choose a method and stick with it and be consistent; changing the method every other day or every week will cause your pup to get confused. If there are no results with a specific method in 2-3 weeks, then try a different one.
