| Hello! Nanuk came to live with us Wednesday and he has since informed me that I ought to join this forum =P. He's an 8 week old bundle of fluff and snuggles and I just can't stop cuddling him. Oh, and btw, my name is Michelle.
Anyway we live in Oak Harbor, WA with my husband and my 2 toddlers. My son, who is three, absolutely adores Nanuk and luckily the feeling seems to be mutual as Nanuk follows my son around like his little shadow. Let me tell you though, potty training 2 boys at the same time isn't fun =P |

26nikita, thanks, I just saw the scrapbook threads and was thinking of doing just that =). I love taking pictures anyway so it won't be hard to get a really good idea of how he's growing. |

| Welcome Michelle! I'm glad to see more WA residents aboard! Congrats on your new pup too!
I'm so jealous, we would LOVE to live on Whidbey Island...still a possibility for us too although my main issue is the ferries. We used to live in Mukilteo, WA which is not far from you at all. We're in SC at the moment but might be moving back to WA...probably somewhere near Mukilteo like before in the near future (possibly spring/early summer of this year if we get a good offer). Our husky is from WA and he's not too keen on the south east's temps. lol _________________ |

| I totally didn't realize that Oak Harbor was on Whidbey Island. My aunt just moved to Langley from here with her wife for a job. I hope to come out and visit someday _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Thank you everybody for such a warm welcome =). Its so great to hear that some of you are kinda close, or are planning on it, I would love for Nanuk to have some husky buddies to play with as he grows. Although, I hear that our dog park has a pretty good showing of huskies runnin around so as soon as little man is up on his shots we'll probably start taking him there. Crystal - He is super snuggly, I'm sure if we let him he'd crawl in bed with us lol. As it is, whoever is sitting on the couch always has a pups head on their lap, if not the entire pup on their lap lol. Len - Is it? I don't know much about Akitas, I'll have to go look now lol. I love it too though, its what melted my heart the first time i saw him, then he kissed me and wagged his tail and I was done for. Nikki - On a good day with not much traffic I can make Bellingham in roughly 1 hour 15 minutes. The drive is beautiful though so unless I'm in a rush I normally enjoy the drive. Isn't the potty training brutal? I'm just hoping I have the boys (my son and Nanuk) done before my daughter shows interest lol. Val - Mukilteo is so close! If you don't move to the island itself, I definitely vote you move back to Mukilteo =). If you live on the north end we've got the bridge and don't have to mess with the ferries but if you'd be commuting off the island for Seattle on a regular basis then south end and ferries would probably be a necessity of life. Do you get sea sick like I do? My husband thinks its hilarious that I get sea sick and chose to live on an island where if I want to go anywhere south or west there is a boat trip involved. What sent you guys out to SC away from WA? Are you military? Tori - Yup, Langley isn't too far a drive from me at all so if you ever come visit your Aunt gimme a holler =). And just because we FINALLY got our first good snow last night/this morning, here are a couple of pictures of my snow puppy =) |

We definitely want to move back, fingers crossed we can make it back. Luckily we don't regularly commute to Seattle. Hubby works out of Everett so that's where he'd be commuting to wherever we end up. Ideally we'd like to buy a house in Mukilteo, but we're going to consider surrounding areas like Whidbey Is, Marysville, Snohomish, Stanwood, Lake Stevens etc. We have another member here who lives in Stanwood, WA and has 2 dogs (1 husky & 1 husky mix). He's not as active on the forum but he checks in every now and then. We ended up moving to the east coast to be closer to family, however after 3 yrs over here we are not happy and realize that we were happier living in WA. Have you lived in that area of WA long? I made need to send you a PM for some advice. _________________ |

I have lived on Whidbey for 9 years but I think because of living on the island its really the only area I know well. I'm kind of familiar with Burlington/Mt. Vernon area as well but that's probably a longer commute than your hubby wants to make every day. I do have a friend who's mother-in-law makes the commute from the south end of the island (Freeland I think) to Everett via the Mukilteo ferry every day and from what I've heard its not too horrible a commute. Wish I could be more helpful. |
