| So my mom's dog loves these dental treats and always buys bags of them for Bode, and he loves them. I'm not so sure about them, he doesn't seem to fully digest them, as I see little pieces of them in his poop. I'm not a nutrition guru like some of you here, so I thought I'd get some insight.
Ingredients: Potato flour, rice flour, glycerine, water, natural flavor, gelatin, canola oil, titanium dioxide (color), monoglycerides of edible fatty acids, flaxseed oil, citric acid, magnesium stearate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate |

| Citric Acid may be a flavoring agent in conjunction with the 'natural flavor' ingredient. Magnesium Stearate is your 'salt' content and tetrasodium pyrophosphate is the ingredient that helps prevent tartar build up. Glycerine can be used in a couple of different applications (sweetener, solvent, preservative) but there are also different sources of glycerine. It doesn't specify but vegetable glycerine is better than synthetic glycerine. Glycerine is also used in toothpaste and mouthwash so I'm assuming this is why it's present.
I personally try to stick to more natural ingredients. There are other products out there that can aid in keeping Bode's teeth clean and breath fresh. If you're noticing these dental treats are not being digested, maybe cut back on how much he gets and incorporate something else such as beef bones to gnaw on.

| Thanks Claudia. I already have been cutting back on what he gets. I just gave him the last one from the bag yesterday and don't plan on getting any more of them. We really hadn't even been feeding them as a dental treat, just as a regular chew treat to occupy him sometimes.
I try to explain to my mom about the fact that I only want him to have specific things when she watches him, but she thinks it's just silly and gives him whatever they give their dog. She keeps trying to get me to switch his food to Pro Plan, which is what they feed. The breeder that they got their first Brittany from years ago recommended it and they haven't gone back. I know it's not the worst one out there, but she thinks it's just the top dog food ever. |

| I am not a fan. I did try them once, years ago, and they gave my sibe the runs like nobody's business. TMI alert! Nothing quite like pure white liquid shooting out of your dogs rear end to turn you off of a product. Lol _________________ |

| Yeah Val, that doesn't sound appealing. Bode does fine on them, just doesn't full break them down, I can see little white pebbles of them in his poo. I always suspected they aren't exactly great, but hadn't looked into it until now... |
