| Hey,
so Mr Shiro has been with us for a little over a month now, and has been improving in many ways. He is much more stable, walks much better on a leash (still gets excited / scared but less so), and is learning basic commands like Sit, Down, Heel, Paw, and so on.
One problem that keeps popping up is that whenever we leave him alone for a little while, he poops and pees inside our house. This happens at night too when we are sleeping.
We always walk him *right* before we go to bed and walk him first thing in the morning. There is about a 6hour wait at night for him in between these walks.
He doesn't do his business inside when we are around. Only when access to us is blocked (we are sleeping in another room / we are not at home)
We clean the stuff without making a fuss, not paying him any attention positive or negative, we are just ignoring him when we clean up.
How to best deal with this little problem? This happens even if i am away for an hour. (i haven't left him alone for longer then that). Also this makes him NOT having to poop very often when we go for a walk so little opportunity for praise when he does this outside.
thx

| Do you use a crate? If not crate train him most dogs are very reluctant to do their business in the crate.
For clean up from previous duty calling you need a cleaner like Natures Miracle to remove any and all scent left behind. http://www.ilovenaturesmiracle.com/catalog/prod_detail.php?id=3
Not sure if this products is available in Europe but I'm sure something like is. |

| I would say it could be anxiety too. I know neo poops when he gets anxious or excited. Just not in the house. Def crate train him. He will mfost likely not poo, and that can be his safe space. |

| Yeah the create saved us if it wasn't for that our house would be a mess. He still now at 3months has accidents in the house but has gotten much better. He will not go in his create unless no other option is available. He will bark like crazy in the morning to wake us up and take him out - most of the time we'll make it but on the rare occasion he will pee in his cage - has never pooped in his cage. I would never leave him outside his cage or let him roam the house freely when we are not home.
Good luck! Sounds frustrating. |
