We're looking to get a muzzle for our first aid kit - just in case Appa gets hurt and we need to work on him and he doesn't want to let us. I want something that's easily packable and most muzzles I see are big cage things. I'd rather get one of the "soft" muzzles. Anyone have any experience with the soft muzzles?

That's all I have for a muzzle. One of those $10 Petsmart jobs. Has always worked great for me. Another light weight option that may already be in the kit is vet wrap. It's one of those 'million uses' items. Securing around the back of the head is a little tricky. But if you've got a technique down it's just as effective.

The soft muzzle is all they use at my vet office. I have them put it on both Adobo & Biko just for peace of mind when they are there for appointments. Doesn't bother them a bit.

Those wire cage ones make me think of Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs.

Ditto on the vet wrap. Can't tell you how many times I've used that at home and work.

Soft muzzle would be ok for short term use, the dog can't pant properly with one on which is why they're not good for long use. We have both (basket and soft.)

My soft muzzle worked great until I left it on a table and my two got it and chewed the chip on it into tiny little pieces! (I think they spit all the pieces out thankfully.)

The soft muzzles are the only ones they use at my vet as well. When I used to work there they were a blessing for the temperamental and mouthy dogs! They gave us all peace of mind! They seemed pretty comfy for the dogs and are flexible but tight enough that the dogs can't open their mouths if it's the right fit. They make a large variety of sizes so you can get one that fits just right on Appa.
