Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| It would also stimulate his appetite at 2 meals a day. There's nothing wrong with giving something easy and light for him to much on around lunch time like carrots or a PB/pumpkin kong. It's whatever works for you, but he doesn't necessarily/medically/for his health need 3 meals a day.
Definitely continue rewarding his behavior, he's working for it! What I meant by "sympathy feed" is giving him food that is "better" just because he went off a meal. They know the difference and they will manipulate you if they see that they can!

Gotcha...I've definitely seen him leave his kibble to see if I'm going to give him something else...I make sure to give no people food/scraps from the table until he's eaten his food like a good boy. I've told my husband that once he's comfortable with us we'll have created a little monster...he wants to eat EVERYTHING we eat, lol. |

- Appa would (and still does) go through phases. HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY all the time, then would start to turn away food for awhile, then HUNGRY HUNGRY. We noticed it had to do with growth spurts. When he was growing he would eat like mad, then he'd limit his intake when he wasn't growing so much.
We've noticed the same with Ghost. Now that it seems that her growth has tapered off quite a bit (38-40 lbs at 7.5 months) we've tapered her food back just a little. She went through one period in the late summer where she hit a lull between spurts where she really wasn't interested in food at all. That lasted for a couple weeks, and then she resumed eating normally as her growth picked up again. Glad I did a search before posting! Sounds like my pups have decided there growth is slowing down for now. They always get fed TOTW food, this will be bag #2 of the Fowl flavored one, which they loved, and now won't touch. Everything else is normal and just went to the vet. In great health, and drinking still. Guess they are regulating! |

| As I mentioned in another post around here ... somewhere ... Appa flipped a switch about a month ago where we went from 4 cups a day down to 2-2.5. Boom. No transition. It's just what he wants now. Every now and then he will eat a full 3 cups, but it stays right around 2.5. It was startling, but he's older and growing less. Everything else is healthy and normal. I just didn't expect to drop 2 cups a day over night. I won't complain, he just doubled our dog food supply! |

| Yeah My Neko isn't too hungry crazy as he once was as a puppy puppy who would eat anything that hit his bowl. He still drinks so much water he vomits but [ast few days I notice water in his bowl a few times. He is learning"
I find that more walks and more exercise equals more potty's and hunger to eat! |
