| I may not be normal but I have noticed the furminator rips up a dogs coat. I hate it! I refuse to used the furminator. I take a comb and brush and get the blowing coat out. I want something that works better. My friend who is a groomer recommended this one, it doesn't rip up the coat. It is actually for a lama I guess she said it works the BEST https://www.llamaproducts.com/index.php?page=ProductDetails&rowid=7593 |

| Erica, we have that one - got a very similar one at Petco. We need that one, and an additional brush to get all the hair out. We have this one and like it almost as much as a furminator: http://www.osterpro.com/Product.aspx?id=groomer&cid=1008&scid=0&pid=6398 |

http://www.osterpro.com/Product.aspx?id=groomer&cid=1008&scid=0&pid=6398 Hahaha!!! That's what we use on my parent's llamas! No kidding! I do like undercoat rakes, but I usually use the zoom groom on Siku since her hair is shorter and it really pulls out the loose fur (cause it's soft and the hair kind of sticks to it. I use it on her dry coat) and a long pinned skinny pin brush works great on Elara. That brush/mat remover works well on some of Elara's longer haired places on her butt! _________________ -Sara |

| ahahaha i had never heard of the shticky. I am concerned and intrigued at the same time LOL. I also dont like the furminator... It snags, pulls and breaks my dog's coat and looks like its very unpleasant for him also. I use the undercoat rake and finish with a top coat brush. My undercoat rake has a curry rake on it but i dont understand how that works, so i've never used it. I have found that i get about an hour of grooming for "free" and then i have to bribe them with a peanut butter filled kong for another hours worth of grooming. |

| Hey guys, my pup is just shy of 5 months old and I am just starting to see the shedding begin! Why is it that the fur comes out more when wet? I hope you don't mind me asking a few beginner questions like what's your procedure before a bath (brush first? with what tool? then again after bath? or wait until dog is dry?) What are some MUST HAVE brushes....I also do not like the furminator as i dont want to cut Luna's fur! Any advice would help out a lot hope i didnt hijack this thread! |

| I usually brush them when their fur is dry with the zoom groom. If I bathe them, I give them a warm bath and loosen as much fur as possible and then towel and blow dry them off with a high velocity drier. Then I use the zoom groom again, but since I got my HVD I'll just sit there and blow the hair off of them. _________________ -Sara |

I just got this in today, took Sura out back and I didn't even realize how much loose hair she had! Very good brush! Happy with my purchase. |

| We use the defurminator on Shelby, but whenever we use it she kind of flinches, do you guys think that it is hurting her? I never knew it would tear their coat up.. :/ sounds like we need to invest into something more healthy for her. |
