| Hi, I'm Crystal, Mom to Keimosabi (7 years old) and Izabella (2 years old and just adopted). I've had Keimo since he was a itty bitty puppy and just got Izzi this week. She's not in the best of health (underweight, timid, hookworms) but she's already my little white angel. Izzi came from a pound as an owner surrender. Their reason was that they had too many dogs. How sad is that? My biggest fear with adopting another dog is that Keimo will feel like he's being replaced. I actually got Izzi for him! I thought he needed a friend for while I am at work. He's overweight (my neighbor has been feeding him... we had a talk about that.) and getting lazy. (Don't we all get that way with a little age? lol) How can I make sure that he doesn't feel slighted in this process of introducing this new girl? He seems to like her... in fact, right now, they are both laying in the floor within inches of each other. |

| If they are lying that close together I don't think Kemo is taking offense to Izzi. Just be sure to devote the same amount of time to him that you did before Izzy's arrival, and don't be surprised if Kemo decides to spend his time with Izzi instead of you. |

| If they'd rather spend time with each other, that will be fine! Thanks for the encouragement! Keimo has been just wonderful for all the years I've had him and I just want him to be happy and healthy for as long as possible. He's gone from a little puppy that no one wanted, to a dog that is loved like a son.... to now having an adopted sister. Before I got Keimo, I knew NOTHING about the breed. I just knew I had this puppy with beautiful blue eyes. Being a librarian, my first instinct was to read everything I could find about the breed. I'm not the best mommy in the world, but I guess I've done alright. I don't think I'll ever have another breed of dog now. Huskies are quirky and crazy and perfect and there's too many of them sitting in shelters because people don't understand them. |

| Welcome to the forum!
In my experience the sled dogs adapt to multiple additions rather quickly. It's kind of in their blood to be a pack. Sounds like yours are well on their way with forming a relationship. When the weight starts fading on Keimo you'll be thankful to have added the second one.
Does Izzi have a touch of red or sable under the white? That pic in your avatar is intriguing. Need some more photos! |

I haven't figured out how to add pics to posts yet... please enlighten me and I'll be glad to post more! :-) I really don't know much about the background of either dog since both were adopted. Izzi may not be full blooded... According to what info I have on Keimo, he isn't either, but it's hard to find anything about him that isn't ALL husky! |

| Awww - she's cute! And if she has a red cast, she's (ironically) an Isabella White! http://www.akc.org/press_center/akc_syndicate/ask_AKC/0109.cfm |

| Hi and welcome!!! I saw your pictures of Keimo and he's adorable and omg Izzi is gorgeous! I'm with Jenn. We got Kody when Mya was almost 5 years old (she too was over weight at the time) and he definitely brought out the pup in her again! We've had Kody for a year now (he's 16 months old) and since we've made major changes to Mya's diet. She's lost 18 pounds and plays chase with him now Sounds like your babies are getting along great though! Keimo seems to be adjusting just fine. It took Mya a few MONTHS to fully accept Kody and she's still totally the Alpha. That's just the way it is. I made sure to give her the same amount of attention or more when we first brought him home, but now, like Len said her attention is more on him. LOL! |

| Thanks, Melissa! I have been so worried about him accepting her, but from what you all say, he's already on his way! I love him so much, I would never want to cause him any stress. He's been with me through thick and thin. He's my BFF.... lol! Izzi's doing great too. She's still got a lot to learn, but we're working on it. She doesn't consistently answer to her name, she doesn't know any commands, she's not really socialized at all. We've got a lot to learn.... what do you guys think? Will she be harder to train than a puppy? Do I need to take her to obedience classes? |

| I may go ahead and do that. However, I want to give her a little time to learn from Keimo, what do you guys think? Will she learn some things from him? |

| An obedience class will create a closer bond between the two of you, and if you keep training fun, you will both have a good time! She will learn things by watching your other dog, but its important she learns stuff from you too. She is a beautiful girl! She is lucky to get rescued by a caring owner! |
