| I figure what will it hurt to take the class and be prepared. im sure Libby would help scare someone with her bark but then she will probably hide. we also just passed a law that you have the right to shoot to kill if someone enters your home. before the law was they could sue you if they broke in hurt you and then somehow hurt themselves. i never understood that. you come into my home hurt me then sue me. wtf is that. im all for good laws but who the hell thought that one up. |

| Several times in the last year there have been newspaper articles about stolen/lost dogs being put up for sale on the Buffalo addition of Craigslist |

| A friend of mine was trying to figure out how her dog got out of the fenced in yard while on a tie out since it was a locking carabiner. A man appeared out of a no where and told her that his dog was also missing. He then tried to tell her that it was her dog's fault his was missing (I've seen his running without tags all the time). A little bit later he showed back up and told her that he knew where her dog was and he would take her to her in his truck. She told him that he could either bring the dog home or tell her where to go so she could have her husband get her when he got home. |

| I know it's really scary. I would love to move north somewhere and have a lot more land , but with the ecomony the way it is, I will enjoy not having a house payment. I always get updates on Facebook about Lost dogs in WI and there are so many. I don't think I could even sleep, not knowing where they are. Lets keep our furbabies safe. |

| This is posted on a rescue website....
ORIGINAL POSTER CONTACT (from MinnesotaAnimalRescue@yahoo.com - Digest #2230 - dated 11MAR10): I am writing to let you know that there is a LARGE group of bunchers working from the Hibbing-Virginia area up through Duluth-Mid Minnesota-mid Wisconsin. I have not only spoken with many people who have had their pets stolen from their fenced yards, taken off tie-outs, and one brave enough to run up to a man's porch in broad daylight and try to steal his Dachund. Luckily, he lived by a 4 way stop, and ran into the street in front of the cars. When he yelled "What are you doing with my dog" the woman threw her out of the window to the pavement and said "We thought she was lost" then took off before he could get a licence number.
Note: A woman was driving and she had a 9 or 10 year old girl run for her.
Unfortunately, I was an intended target as well.
I'd noticed a blue truck with a topper and a sort of loud muffler going slowly past my fenced yard off and on for the last three weeks. Last week one of the guys (there were 2 men) got out by my side fence and bent down to call the dogs-luckily I was standing at the door and was out there like a shot. Needless to say, they took off.
Four nights ago, just at dusk, I heard that truck again. This time they pulled up to the the front fence (so all I could see was the side of the truck-no plates). Two of my dogs were out. The guy in the passenger side jumped out and was at my fence in a second, bent down and calling "come here puppy want this come here.."
Again, luckily I've been keeping an Eagle Eye on my dogs. I ran out and called Baily (he was closest) and at the same time screamed "What the hell are you doing"...well he was in the truck and gone in 2 seconds.
The next day, Dan was out in back by the garage, and Mason trotted up to him! We couldn't figure out how in the world he'd gotten out, until Dan checked the fence. The spot where this dog thief was squatting the night before had used wire cutters to snip several pieces of our fence wire...just enough to reach in and grab the dogs.
Please be advised that there has also been a report of a dark haired woman in a coupe-like red car who has been spotted doing the same thing. God knows how many there are and how many vehicles are being used.

| Even if it is the case, why do they have to get a Husky if they only go potty?

| Good Lord...stealing dogs for money...what a world, huh? Tommy & I always joke that one night with one of the Three Huskyteers & they'd bring them back in a hurry! But, it would devastate me to lose one of my babies! I went through the CCW class (concealed carry) here in MI. I have the permit, have had it for a few months, but in no hurry to get the pistol, yet. Just knowing I have it before that right is taken away is enough for me! I grew up across the state line in Indiana, and all you have to do for a conceal permit there is pay the money, go through the background check...THAT'S IT! No courses at all required...
Hope the husky puppy is ok. You can always hope it ran away and found a home where it is loved & taken care of! Think positive! |

LOL. I always say the same thing about Frankie. After the first hour, they would be setting Frankie loose. He could do some serious damage in a short period of time if he wanted to. I had to leave him at the vet one day for some testing. They said he was fine to stay for the day while I went to work. I got a call two hours after I dropped him off asking me to please come get him ASAP. But I would be totally devastated if he was taken from me. I was a wreck when Frankie got out and was missing for an hour. It killed me to think someone may have picked him up and wanted to keep him. |

This is why I lock Kale's crate with a combo lock when I leave the house, too many people know I have him and where I live. Scary ridiculous times we live in... |
