| Hello everyone! Have owned my first Siberian Husky for almost a year now, he will be 2 years old on Christmas. We got him when the military police picked him up for the 4th time on post here in Hawaii and so they asked us if we would like to have him since my husband and I were looking for a husky to add to our family after being married. I have been in love with him ever since. He's incredibly spoiled along with his brother Bullet - a german shepherd/black labrador mix who is 7 months old. Glad to finally find somewhere to ask questions and talk about my sibe! |

| Welcome aboard! Blitz is gorgeous, and you should post some pics of Bullet in the "Other Pets" section.

| Thanks everyone! He has definitely melted my heart and made me a husky owner for life. Yes my husband and I are currently stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii but come July of next year we will be moving back to his home state Tennessee! |

| That's cool, my best friend was stationed at Pearl Harbor and her husband was at Schofield for a while. You guys getting out next year, or rotating to one of the bases in TN? I'm Navy, btw _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Nice, using the GI bill? There are some other good programs out there for tuition assistance as well... I've done a lot of research on it because I want to go to med school after this tour, and if the Navy won't let me transfer to the med corps, I'm going to get out and do it on my own. If you guys haven't relinquished your TN residency, look and see if they have any educational benefits for vets. That's the reason I haven't changed mine from IL, they have really good benefits for us. That's really cool about opening your own vet office, too. Good luck! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | He's using his GI Bill, yes. I'm not a service member, just a spouse ... I don't think he relinquished his TN residency so we definitely will look into those benefits! Thanks! I am so excited, where we are going to hopefully live there are only probably 3 vets within the entire area and it's a BIG farm town so tons of livestock and horses that need vet care! |

| Very awesome! I'm always researching anything and everything to do with the health of my dogs and others' dogs. I am so excited to get back to school to start training to become one. I ideally want to work at somewhere like a humane society to take care of the abused and neglected animals. It'll only make me appreciate my happy healthy husky and gsd mix even more! |

Awesome. Do some research too, there are spouse benefits out there as well. I feel ya on the rural area in need of care, I want to go into rural healthcare and live in an underserved community once I'm out of the Navy. If I can't get them to pay for school, there are a lot of rural healthcare incentives out there. Might be the same for vet school as well... _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
