| Great job Mindy. You did everything right. Staying calm is what kept that dog back. Willow will have a whole new respect and trust for you since you were able to protect her so well. |

| Thanks! I am very happy with how it went down and I think it will just give me more confidence if it happens again. I will say, it was a good thing it didn't happen with Dakota this last year....I probably would have panicked. He and I have had encounters in the past but he was strong then and could handle it. I never really panicked then either but I never stepped infront of him to ward off the dog either. I didn't know that would work back then. Another thing I learned off this forum..thank you all! |

| It is the right way, but of course there is no guarantee that it will work the next time aswell, ther eis always a risk to get bit.
Anubiswas attacked this morning by a dog that attacked him for the third time now. I immediately steped in fornt of Anubis and this fucked up dog ran into me so I had to kick him away and like always the owner wasn´t in a hurry to get his dog under control. I really don´t get it, if I know my dog is aggressive and does not listen to me I don´t le thim off leash. If there will be a fourth time I will call the police. |

| Some police departments don't care unless a human gets bit. I called our police department after Kitty got bit once, and they told me they don't do anything unless a human is injured. I was NOT happy about that! To top it off, the humane society said they would look into it, and then never returned my calls, even though I left tons of messages. Finally went down there and gave them a piece of my mind. Sad, but some towns don't really care what happens to dogs. |

| The more I read about these stories the more paranoid I become when walking mine Mindy, you did great! I wouldn't be able to place myself in front of Mya and Kody with a dog rushing to attack. Mya would be totally up for the fight and Kody would probably think the dog wants to play and be rushing at him ALL of fingers crossed that we don't have such a bad incident! I'm glad that you and Willow are ok! |

| Thank you Melissa! Willow is such a petite girl and LOVES everyone and everything, I would hate for an attack to not only hurt her but dim her personality. Amazingly, she was pretty calm behind me as well. She never tried to run out from behind me to greet the dog. Maybe I was sending out some major "Alpha" vibes like Amy said! LOL! |

| You did great sending out those Alpha vibes!
Right after my last girl Tasha had cancer surgery, she was attacked by the neighborhood bully dog. I kicked that dog into the next time zone. Was totally furious and protective of my girl. Yelled at the owner. Went ballistic. But it didn't work out for me...
Called animal control and filed a report. It was the third, and supposedly, the one triggering review. Then amazingly, the first two disappeared from the file. All that was left was mine. An animal control officer went out to talk with the owners, who said they would increase the amperage on their invisible fence. The animal control officer told them invisible fences don't work for determined dogs, that he had picked up strays with burn marks on their necks from fences they had busted through. Still, that was their response.
Two weeks later, at night, someone unscrewed the wheel lug nuts on my truck's tires. I didn't see it until I was going 50 mph over a freeway bridge and the tire sensors started flashing. Each wheel was being held on by a single locking nut. I couldn't prove who did it, but I had a pretty strong suspicion.
I didn't want to go to war. I live in the country and my dog is outside in a run during the day. I felt like I couldn't protect her from an irrational person when I was't home. Since then, I talked with the dog owner civilly when the dog got out. The response was better on his part, and the dog has since died.

| That's awful Michael! If it had been Dakota, I probably would have done the same thing! Man, that could have been one heck of a car crash! You had an angel watching out for you, very scary! |

I> don´t know the name and the address of this person.. The police or the cities don´t give a damn about such things too, but I would argue that a dog that goes against other dogs pretty sure will go against a child one day, maybe then they will do something. |

Amen. She resource guards so badly I'm afraid any small child who didn't know better than to try to take a toy would get bitten. I've seen her get amazingly vicious with Ghost I'm not totally cool with having very small kids around her. I've also seen her pin a 4 year old against a wall to take food out of her hand. I about lost it on that one, and I think that finally got Aaron to see just a little bit of the problem (even though he didn't believe me at first). I never remember the Cocker we had when I was little being mean, just really, really stupid (except for when dad stepped on her in the dark...he took several stitches after that one). _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. Some Cockers develop RAGE syndrome too, but this sounds more like resource guarding to me. Sounds to me like your doing everything right, your hubby just needs to set some rules and boundaries with her. She's used to getting her way with him. |

| I've read about RAGE syndrome, and I'm afraid Lulu is on her way. It goes beyond the guarding, she's mean to other dogs. We have problems with her at dog parks, and if Ghost gets in a playful mood, Lulu gets nasty and lunges and snarles. We take her to dog parks because we don't want to leave her while we take Ghost, she does get upset if we do that. We usually have to wind up leashing and holding her because she gets nasty and runs other dogs off. She finally got one dog that wouldn't run and pinned her to the ground. Of course at home Aaron just makes excuses, but I'm finally getting him to where he sees that her behavior is problematic. Oh, and she pees. Everywhere.. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Have you checked if it might be a health problem? Otherwise it calls for professinal help I guess. |

| She doesn't have any health problems, she's just psychotic. We've checked, and now that I'm around and really pushing him, Aaron is finally getting her into some formal training. We'll see if she can handle being around other dogs in a class, and we've spoken in depth with the trainer at Petsmart. She is well aware of Lulu's issues and lack of socialization, so whereas if she were alone she could probably go into the advanced class, we're putting her through intermediate for interaction with other dogs. She's just never been punished for guarding or charging other dogs since Aaron didn't realize how much of a problem they were. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I haven't seen the woman or dog that attacked Bodhi in awhile. Until today. She was walking with three other women; all had their dogs off leash. I called out as I ran closer, "Dog, passing from behind you." They all grabbed their dogs and put them on leashes. Guess who didn't have a leash and took a long time to corral her dog?
Some people....
