| Mya has always woken up early, but after I let her out she'll go back to bed until I decide to wake up. Ever since we got Kody (this past December) I haven't been in able to sleep past 630am EVER. Between 6am and 630am he starts whinning, crying, barking, etc. I get up, let them out to do their business, feed them, and try to lay back down. YEAH RIGHT! During the week it's fine because I have to go to work, but on the weekends it's torture!!!
I've tried leaving him in the room with my hubby and going to lay on the couch with Mya, but that doesn't work. He still cries and then Mya jumps on me to wake me up like saying "ummm, Kody's crying...get up". He's not in his crate and can easily cuddle up with the hubby.
It's frustrating when I just want to sleep till 930am...don't think that's too much to ask! I work 9-5, work out, and dedicate a lot of time to them (walking them, playing, etc). By the time Saturday rolls around I'M TIRED! =(
Does anybody else have this problem? Any suggestions! |

| first- love the new sig!
i have a built in alarm clock and even on the weekends i wake at 6am! i let the dogs out cause they are on my time clock and they do come back up to bed when they are done and we might sleep till 7 or 8. i have never had the issue of them not calming back down after peeing, now they will make sure im up to let them out at that time if by chance i do sleep but im not sure what to tell you to get him to calm back down, can you give him a chew bone to take up his time and is not to noisy to let you sleep? how about making hubby deal with him so you can sleep? _________________ |

| We somehow lucked out and got a sleeper He will sleep in with us until at least 9:00 on Saturday mornings. I have begun freezing a mixture of yogurt, pumpkin and a tad of peanut butter in a Kong for times when I want some peace and quiet. Perhaps that could be a special Saturday morning treat that could give you another hour of sleep? |

| Have you tried ignoring them? My dogs are like that too. They don't need a clock to know when it's time to wake up, eat, walk, play, or go outside. I swear with my dogs around, I don't even need a clock. Dakota comes over and wakes me up in the morning, he comes to me midday to let me know it's time to go outside, and all 3 dogs certainly make sure I know when it's their dinner time! I'm a naturally early riser, sleeping in for me just doesn't happen. But on the rare occasions that I do sleep in (if I have a really late night) then I just ignore the dogs when they wake me up. They usually give up after a while. Of course at first it will take a lot longer to ignore but the more you do it, the more the get the message. If he needs to do his business outside because that's his normal schedule, could you take him outside real quick to potty and then come back in and go back to sleep? I know it's hard to ignore but that's what I did in the beginning when Dakota wouldn't let me sleep in. I just gave him a verbal correction and ignored all his shenanigans. It did take a while but the more I did it the shorter his "complaining" got and now he's really really good about leaving me alone if I ignore him the first time he wakes me up. _________________ |

| I wish I was morning person and could just wake up at 630am without being in a bitchy mood and hating life =( I'm a big time sleeper! I had gotten better though. Before we got Kody I would wake up at 930am on my own, but this whole 6am deal is not cool..lol.
Yep, tried the chew bone thing and that only entertains him for maybe 30min and he's back at it. I think he wants to go in the yard and play with Mya. I also have tried ignoring him, but he will go on FOREVER!!! It gets to the point that I can't sleep and just have to get up. My hubby some how sleeps through this and he's LOUD and ANNOYING. I don't know how he does it.
Lisa, I'm going to buy him a Kong and try that! Mya had one, but it got lost (of course). |

| Makes me feel better than I'm not alone in this! Evie is up every morning between 6 and 6:30 too. I take her right out to pee quick and tell her "bedtime" when we come back in, but she's not having it. The circles under my eyes are starting to match hers LOL! What kills me is she has breakfast at 7:30, goes outside, plays hard for a bit, next thing ya know by 8:45 she's like this... |

| So funny that I found this.
I get a text everyday from my wife at around 530am...Husky alarm clock.
Our sibe Amber has gotten quite vocal in the 3 weeks we have had her. She cries like no tomorrow until we come downstairs. Then we let her out, play with her and feed her and she goes into the living room and falls asleep. Sigh, she has us wrapped around her paw. |

| You beat me with the 530am..lol. This morning I got woken up at 6am with Kody on my head trying to take off my pony tail and Mya licking away at my face..lol. I get up let them out to do their business, put Kody in the room with my hubby, and go lay on the couch with Mya in hopes of getting another hour sleep. Sure! Kody cried/howled/barked the entire time. I decided to start ignoring him again to see if he gets the point. Ahhh, gotta love them! |

| Ok, this is seriously getting out of control with Kody! For the past 2 days he's decided to wake up at 515am and WILL NOT go back to sleep! I've tried everything that I can think of. - Leave him in the bedroom with hubby...NOT! -Leave him in the bedroom with hubby & MYA...NOT! -Put Mya in the bedroom with hubby and bring Kody with me to the living room...NOT! -Put Kody in his crate..MAJOR NOT! -Bone for entertainment...lasts 15min so NOT! |

| Aevyn when we first got him would wake me up between 8:30 and 9, and that, I could certainly handle.
Lately its been the 5:30-6:30 routine, which is torture. Usually what we do is take him out, give him his kong in his crate and then we tend to ignore him until he gets the message.
However, he also doesn't bark or howl at us, he'll just sit at the end of the bed staring at us or rolling around making grunty noises.
I can see where it might be difficult for Kody to understand when on the weekdays its alright, I'm sure they dont quite understand why all of the sudden their schedule is different. Maybe try even ignoring them when they first try to wake you up? There were a few instances where Aevyn tried 4am, and it wasn't a chance in hell that was happening. We knew he could hold it and he did, he tried again around 6 when we allowed it.
Not that you'll get much of a rest when he's barking at you, but maybe he'll understand that he's simply got to wait for you to wake up on your own time. |

| Oh Karen girl, you have no idea how annoying Kody gets!!! If he would just whine that wouldn't be too bad because we could learn to tone him out, but he howls, barks, crys (LOUD) all at the same time! I normally don't have to wake up till 7am to go to work so him doing this at 5am and torturing us for 2hrs is NO FUN!
Ignoring him doesn't work. He'll do it for hours until you get up. He's 9months already so he SHOULD have his routine down. I don't know what else to do!!! |

| LOL Melissa, we dealt with a similar deal with Dakota for a while but in his case he wouldn't settle to go to sleep at night. Finally hubby was so fed up with the whining and carrying on that he picked up his pillow and slammed it on the crate by our bed (Dakota wasn't in the crate, it was just to make noise). The loud, scary noise shut Dakota up immediately and we NEVER had a problem again. Whatever works! lol _________________ |

| I can relate! I was just telling my mom that i never needed an alarm clock because Shelby ALWAYS gets me up same time everyday 7. I can't ignore her because she knows and she'll bark and howl louder and she doesn't stop. |

| LOL @ Val! That was too easy...I'm jealous! Brittany, 7am is ok during the week, but geez 5am is ridiculous! These puppies I tell ya! Shelby is only 4months old though (right?) and Kody is 9 months and should be over it! I don't remember Mya doing that. She wouldn't let me go to sleep at night (actually she still tries to do that), but after 5-10min she would give up and go to bed. Didn't wake up until like 8am. |
