2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Switching Advice Needed Empty
PostSubject: Switching Advice Needed   Switching Advice Needed EmptyThu Oct 06, 2011 7:38 pm

I am going to switch Chaos and Storm to a grain free food, how much should I mix to get them started, half new food or less. Also what about puppy food, with all the nutrients and protien does she still need puppy food. I am going to try Taste of The Wild. Can they both eat the same or should I go in a different direction.
Thanks for any help.

TOTW is an all stages food, you might want to feed her a hair more as the bag says i think. i don't think any of us really feed what the bag says i think most of us on TOTW feed our adults 2 cups of food a day, 1 cup in the morning and 1 cup at night. a lot of people do the gradual mix of foods to ease them into it. i think i only did it for like a few days or a week and then was full on TOTW. i also mix flavors of TOTW every bag and do a cold turkey switch or if im lucky i have some of the other flavor left and mix it a hair.

For Mya I normally do the switch within 2 or 3 days, but since Kody has such a sensitive tummy it takes about 2 weeks to fully transition over. I would start with 1/4 cup of the new food for a day or two, then up it to 1/3 cup, then 1/2, then 1 cup, etc. Honestly though, if they're doing fine on it after the 1/2 cup I would just totally switch over. Up to you.

Thanks, I still have about half a bag of the old so I will mix till that runs out and see how thats going, I did not know it was an all stages so thats a nice bonus. I totally agree with the little more than the bag says, Chaos is pretty active and normally just eats when he's hungry, the little one acts like I starve her and would eat all day I believe.
Once again thanks for your help

I feed Adobo & Biko, 2 cups each per day. More often then not Adobo eats only 1 1/2 cups. Unless your working the dogs they seldom need to be fed what the bag says. (they sell more that way)
