Feeding amounts Empty
PostSubject: Feeding amounts    Feeding amounts EmptyThu Sep 29, 2011 5:22 pm

Hi everyone,

My boy Kiba is 15 weeks and weighs 20 lbs (went to the vet 9/17/2011). I'm wondering how much I should feed him per day. He's just come off of a bland diet because of loose stools (I think this is due to Purina One, which the breeder had him on). I did some research and discovered this wasn't the greatest food for huskies. He's now on Blue Buffalo Chicken and Rice and had his first "real" formed stool. I cannot tell you how excited I was for this, lol.

Anyway, I feel like he may be too skinny. He eats about 2-2.5 cups per day. I don't want to overfeed him (he will eat the entire house if you let him), but I want to make sure that he's getting enough. Any advice?

this is blue buffalo's feeding chart. your pup is almost 4 months so it says around 1 1/4- 1 1/2 (for him weighing 20lbs) but huskies tend to eat a little less, others can help you out there

edit: i misread it haha. ugh. obviously you need 2 1/2 cups. sorry.

I did see that and took it into account. I think 2.5 might be good for him for now. They're both always seem so hungry, but my aunt's boxer is also like that and he's HUGE so it might just be a want-it-because-they-see-it type thing.

I'd expect to feed a growing sibe that age around 2-3 cups/day. I think 2.5 cups/day is a good starting point. As always, I'd keep an eye on body condition and weight and adjust feeding amounts as needed.
