Yes. That weight range sounds fine for a dog his height. |

| My Stormy is almost 50 lbs at 6 months. He's not over weight, just big. My girls went between 50 - 60 lbs when they were fully grown. Shania looked really good at 48 and Shadow was overweight once she hit 55 for her structure so it really does just depend on the dog. |

| I think the height disqualification is mainly to stop breeders from going to too much of extremes. Yes, your dog will get disqualitifed in the show ring (if the judge cares to even check the height which is unlikely), but if the dog if almost perfect in every other aspect, it doesn't mean it's not a good choice to breed. From my short experience in the show ring, I can tell you, there are some champion and grand champion dogs who should not be bred and some dogs who are never shown at all who would make great brood bitches and studs. Ribbons and titles are not heritable. You would probably like to read some of the things by Dr. Carmen Battaglia. I don't agree with everything he does, but he is very educated in dog breeding and has come up with two different ways to look at pedigrees which will help you decide on a breeding.

| How does 18 inches and 29 pounds sound? Based on touch it feels about right. He has a waist, you can feel ribs but not see.... |

| I don't consider height (to a point) when I look at a Siberian. I want to see the dog proportioned correctly. And it's a rarity that I ever see that. Cheyenne and Odin I think look pretty good but Mishka isn't right at all. She's too stocky and short for her body frame. Her head is weird/wrong too. Not saying the others are perfect though. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Well how big is polar likely to be? Height and weight? Hes pretty small i guess at 19 inches and 27 pounds for nearly 6 months. |

| I don't think there is any way to know how big Polar may or may not get until he is closer to a year. Supposedly, you should double the size from six months, but I really don't believe that. Many individual dogs grow at different rates.
As far as the big vs small vs breed standard issue...I think show huskies are a little smaller than absolutely needed. Zander is pretty darn big at 28'' and 70lbs, but he is a "perfect" Sibe in every other way. BYB, so who knows what is behind his unregistered dad, but he pretty much fits the standard in every other way.
I really don't buy the "bigger sibes have more health issues" comment. Health in conformation isn't all about size...it is about proportions. If the Sibe is correct in conformation, there shouldn't be any stress on the joints regardless of size. If that were true, Sibes would never be able to pull a sled and hold up the the extra weight. |

| Some breeders of show dogs tend to breed to the lower end of the range to avoid the disqualification for the upper end of the scale. |
