| I've had an ongoing issue with people walking up to me and Link, more often than not not even saying hello, and randomly start taking pictures of Link without my permission.
It happened at a dog park yesterday. I calmly asked the guy to stop taking photos of at least ask for permission, and he got all huffy with me and cursed me out. I told him I thought it was rude and invasive to photograph what is essentially someone else's property without permission and he said that was the "stupidest f***ing thing he's ever heard." I told him I disagreed and asked him to please walk away.
Does anyone have problems with this? Does anyone else feel it is a bit rude and invasive as well?? |

| Maybe you shouldn't have such a lovely husky!! ; )
Yes, this has happened to me as well...not just with the dogs, but with kids, ect.....
I do think it is weird, rude, and just plain wrong to photograph w/o permission. It's our society now with cell phones with cameras.
Some would argue that anything in public is fair game, tho. |

i wouldn't really get upset if someone took pictures of my two dogs without permission (it would be nice if they asked first though) and i don't have kids but if i did and they took pictures of my kids without permission that's a whole other story. its different if they was taking pictures of their kid and mine just happen to be in the background. with all the sickos in the world if they took a picture of my kid and i asked them to delete it and they refused i would be calling the police. why would you want pictures of someone else kid that you don't even know? |

| People take pictures at dog parks. Why is there a problem with people taking pics of your dogs? People take pictures of my sibe all the time. At a dog park it's not like people need to ask permission nor do they likely know who each dogs owner is. Now it would be a different story if they came up to you while you were out walking your dog and started taking photographs. Even then though, it's not like there's anything wrong with taking a photo of a dog. I'm curious why it bothers you? The only time I prefer people ask permission is if I am out walking my dog and someone wants their picture taken with my dog. Otherwise I don't mind people taking his picture.
If anything I would think it flattering that someone finds my dog worth taking photographs of.
Now on the flip side, I always ask first before taking a picture of someones dog if they are out walking their dog. But when we go to the dog park we always take pictures and it would be ridiculous to go around and ask every individual owner if it was okay to photograph their dog. If you don't want your dog photographed then don't take him to a public park. _________________ |

| Really never bothered me. The painfully ignorant people who tell me about my dog annoy me, dog people or picture takers not so much. I've had people pull over and hold up traffic to talk to me about my dogs and ask me where I got them. I've had people take pictures of the girls at the dog park from time to time and it's fine by me I guess. I've even had an old couple take a picture of Kelly and me with the girls on one of our walks. Let me explain. I've never met these people in my life, it wasn't a picture for us, and neither of them was in it. So somewhere out there someone has a picture of my wife, my two dogs, and myself and I have no idea who they are or why.... But I stood there and posed.... I still do not understand that interaction at all. I could understand how someone could find it intrusive though. It does get better with age. When Teek was a puppy everyone wanted to hold her and pet her.... now that she looks like a coyote and has a big ginger sister people tend to give more distance. It does still happen.... just less so ~Chris~ _________________ Is this about the cake problem? What's the matter with you mathematicians, cake is never a problem. - Professor Lazlo

| I take pictures of other peoples dogs at the dog park but never when out walking, that would be weird. But if the dogs near their owner at the dog park i'll ask and usually they'll help me take pictures. |

| we get stopped all the time on trails for people to take pics of S&J they always ask though since they hold us up on our hike. at the dog park its free game and i only take pics there for our meet ups and we all share the pics on the FB page and i love when someone gets a great shot of my 2 and let me have a copy. when you get huskies i think you just get used to random people taking pictures of the dogs or stopping you on the streets and what not. _________________ |

| I had a guy ride past on his skateboard trying to take a picture of storm. I was kinda hoping he would fall.....
But I don't really see a problem with taking pictures without asking , unless s/he was going to use it in a commercial product its just a picture. If you took him outside into a public environment you waive the right to be upset because your in pubic nothing protects your property from being photographed in a public place. However, if you did ask them to stop, s/he should respect your wishes and move on. And cursing at you is harassment here in the states and you should have called the police. |

| I take pictures at the dog park all the time. People can take pictures of my pups, I don't care. I think my girls are beautiful and if someone else does too, then that just makes me smile.
If I were walking, I guess I would like to be asked first, but that hasn't happened to me yet. |

| Wow, its even more creepy with kids I'm sure. Since I have no paternal drive or interest at all I guess I feel it strongly with the puppy. He does get A LOT of attention, but I guess I just figure a touch or a picture warrant at least a hello to me and a request. It's not the picture per se, just the lack of engagement with me and concern for my comfort.
I kinda see Link as an extension of my personal space especially of he's directly on me, under me, or engaged with me and any attempts to enter that space I feel deserves at least a request.
Chris, having that photo floating around sounds so icky to me. That's part of it too.......what is your intent with this photo??

| Id feel weirded out if someone was acting sketch about taking the pictures or including me in it becuase i do not need random people with my picture out there. But if someone wants to snap a shot at the dog park or ask me to take a picture of Kiba then im happy to oblige. They probably meant no harm but rather than cursing at you should have just explained why they wanted the shot. Weird |

| I take pictures all the time! Never on walks or anything, but if I'm at the dog park, I usually have my camera out and am snapping away. If I know the owners I'll ask but if Karli is playing with someone's dog, the dog is fair game to end up in my shots.
Now on walks, I can understand how that can be annoying. I get uncomfortable when I get stopped and people ask start asking questions but they're usually just curious about how old she is and such. I've never had anyone want to take her picture on a walk yet though lol. |

| Personally I don't mind because not many people have huskies in my town and it's a dog many people enjoy seeing. I do prefer people who ask first, to me it's more polite and respectful but not everyone is built that way.
If you are uncomfortable by all means express it to the individual it doesn't make you weird and it's not stupid in anyway. If you really like to take the piss out of people who give you a hard time reverse the role take pictures of them, the people they are with and any inanimate objects they have with them and make it sound like it's the cats pajamas. Trust me they learn fast(know from experience lol) |

| When people ask I mostly say yes, especially if just relaxing or being casual. If people interupt training and/or his tantrums, usually not so compliant.
I think a simple "hi" goes a long way too, rather than just snapping photos abruptly as happened here.
It's pretty often he's the only pure bred fog around and Huskies have an exceptionally beautiful, exotic look so o definitely get the compulsion. |

I agree, its nice if people ask permission. I'm more particular about petting than picture taking, if you wanna touch my dog you better ask. My hubby will tell someone no if he doesn't like the look of them, but its usually just little kids that wanna touch her. I'm gonna warn you ahead of time, I will have my camera at the next meetup!!! |

| Surprisingly there's been quite a few times people have asked to take a picture of Yuki, most the time with excuses like 'I want to show my boyfriend, he wants a husky so bad!' or 'my dad used to own a husky just like this, I'd love him to see her', and the most common 'I've never seen a dog with two eyes before'. Usually they end up getting frustrated because she does not pose at all, shes a wiggle worm. I usually have to end up taking the picture for them because I know how to get her to sit still. I guess I've never really taken offense to it, they can look, but not touch |

| I guess I also find this REALLY creepy. If my dog is playing with your dog and you are taking pics because you want them of your dog playing thats fine. Otherwise it would totally piss me off. Then when he started cursing I would have lost it. |

| Well said Dena.
Here in Seattle, people take great exception to limits and boundaries and assertiveness. Anything stated directly without the guise of politeness or passive aggressiveness is turned around on you and you become the villain all of a sudden.
It's personal liberty gone haywire and monsters are created. |
