This may seem strange, and I haven't been able to put my finger on it, but lately we've seen a LOT more dog hair on the hardwood floors than before we brought Violet home....

Our vacuum cleaners tends to blow it out ahead before it can get sucked up. I was thinking about some kind of smaller battery operated vac, or something like a Swiffer (sp?).

What have you all used that works? Anything special, or just the hose and tube attachment?

I have a super duper heavy duty expensive vacuum - Kirby - but the Dyson works really well and costs 1/2 the price. I chose the Kirby because my mom, sister and friend has one. My mom's one is about 30 years old and I believe may have had the engine overhaulded once, but the lifetime warranty covered it. My sister's Kirby is 17 years old and she has only had to change the belt twice, and my friend's Kirby is 18 years old and she has always had 2 big shedding dogs and they ALL still run as good as new. I have 2 huskies and the super duper triple hepa filter vacuum bag holds up to 20 lbs of dirt before you need to change it.

For my hardwood floors, I just use a microfiber sweeper pad that's washable, and Bona cleaner to mop it up.

We have 2 Dysons. Best vacuums ever! For hard floors we use a dry swiffer type thing.

Oh, you got one of those shedding models of husky?

We use the Bona sweeper pad (the soft one) every day and the Bona cleaning pad for cleaning once a week.

Once a week or so, we vacuum with the Eureka Pet Lover HEPA vacuum. Eureka is made by the more expensive Electrolux! It's a great size and gets fantastic reviews - less than $100 on amazon! And the Power Paw attachment is awesome on fabric, sucks all the hair up.

I also use the rolling sticky things to get hair off me and hubby, car seats, etc. We have one in each car, my office and the house.

I vacuum with a Kenmore upright, been working like a champ for years and I love it. Love it so much I want another one for upstairs so I don't have to ask hubby to lug the heavy thing up and down the stairs for me all the time.

We just got a Shark Navigator a few weeks ago, and it is amazing. It has better reviews than the Dyson and its a fraction of the price. I ordered it off of QVC, and was able to get it for less (even with shipping) than anyplace I found around here. I think I paid like $172 after shipping. We had some friends over not too long ago and they couldn't believe how clean the floors are with 2 dogs and 2 cats.

We've got a Kenmore canister vacuum and I love it! It's got a "pet" head attachment which works great on our furniture and stairs. For the rest of the house which is either laminate or tile, I use the floor attachment...although not as often as I should. lol

i have hardwood floors and i have a 3 year old little bissel floor vac..best vac i've ever owned and it was like $20, haha! just have to empty it like 2 times before i'm done vacuuming. for my area rugs i have a eureka airspeed which is like a knockoff dyson and it was like $130. works WONDERFULLY.

I bought a Dyson before we got the puppy. My wife thought I was nuts. I got a 55% discount through my job on it so it made sense. I have to say, best thing I bought for our house yet. Amazing vaccuum. Works on the hardwood and the carpet, lightweight and super powerful. Only vaccuum I have ever seen that can do all aspects and well, it even pulls hair off the couch with no drama on the first pass.

I was looking at that one at Walmart the other day...I believe it was about $79 or something like that. The power paw attachment is what caught my attention, but hubby didn't think it would work. Glad to hear it does! We're looking into the Dyson also, but this one is so cheap that I might just end up with 2..lol.

Oh, and let's not get started on the sticky rollers! Let's see we have one in:

- In the car (2 actually)
- At home
- In my gym back
-At the office (mine and his)

The Power paw is CRAZY awesome. The kids have black beds from Costco and it'll get COVERED in hair. One swipe of the power paw, and you'll see a solid line of black! It's kinda fun! Hubby uses it for the cars too - it's the only thing that gets the carpet clean. Check out amazon.com, they usually have better prices!

bissel pet vav for us, have had it 2 yrs now and i love it but find it shoots out the small pieces of dirt on the hardwood vs. sucking it up.... it blows out the side so if you vac in the right direction it does not blow the fur around. i also have that small Bissel vac posted above for under the beds and bathrooms and i love it as well
