I hate summer heat anyway but this summer has been HORRIBLE! My boys are lacking in exercise and now getting into things they never used to like the trash and counter surfing. Came home to this yesterday:

Will it ever end? 11_110

We've had 53 days of 100+ degree temps this summer and counting. High today 106. We set the record for the hottest average temp ever recorded for anywhere in the nation in July at 89.7 degrees, so there is no cool time of the day for them to be outside. August is on track to break that record. They go to doggy daycare once a week. I go to work at 6am but even if I was to get up earlier to walk them in the dark (which I hate for safety reasons) it's still 80 degrees and high humidity.

Just venting and dreaming of my move to Estes Park and retirement.

EDIT: and an electric bill less than $250.

Boy I hear ya about the heat!!!! Ours can stay in the yard for 30 minutes tops and they are panting like crazy. Texas can be hot but on the coast where I live it is unusually high. Early morning walks are out for mine also.... Can't wait for Fall so we can begin again. I am retired so can monitor their antics during the day. Makes it a lot easier!!!! Braiden loves to fetch balls and Frisbees and he doesn't understand why he can't play in the heat, poor Baby.

Hopefully you'll see temps start dropping soon. We had our fair share of 100+ degree days here in Charleston, something I have never experienced even in all my years living in FL. I couldn't believe SC was hotter than FL! But alas, we have already seen a break in temperatures. Over the past 2 weeks we've seen our lows drop noticeably into the upper 60's and low 70's which makes morning walks so much more pleasant and we've been able to walk further too. Our highs have also dropped from the mid to upper 90's down to the mid 80's thankfully. I am so thankful for the relief we've been feeling lately and I hope you get some of that relief your way. Even with this slight overall temp drop I've already seen a noticeable increase in my sibes energy level...can't wait till winter!

Well we have a very open floor plan and no food pantry or any place secure for the kitchen trash but I am looking to a more husky proof trash can.

Daycare twice a week would be a stretch at $35 for two dogs, plus from watching the doggy cam most of the dogs are done playing by 10:00am, it's just too stinking hot!

Oh well this to shall pass.....

We have this and it keeps the husky monkeys out of the trash. Purchased after an episode that looked much like yours. That silver thing locks.

Husky proof! May not be bear proof but definitely husky proof (until they grow thumbs - then I'll need to hide my laptop and bank account PIN number too).

Good luck with the dogs! I moved to Florida from Moore in June and while it's been nasty here I'm so glad I'm not out there anymore...

Every summer when I lived in AZ (left this year), I took Koda on a walk at 4AM and again at 9ish or so.. it was still 80+ but that's low enough of a temp for both of us to do a quick walk/run. P.S. 116 in AZ today! I hate going out during the dark too but I had a blinker and pepper spray with me!
