| Hi there!! We are the proud owners of two young Husky pups, We have Nika who is 6 months old and Tito who is 3 and a half months old.. Nika has always had an endless reserve when it comes to energy and Tito who is a very heavy set boy (think he is going to be huge) who is a little less energetic!! We have been walking Nika more then Tito (obviously) but were wondering if there is a rule of thumb to how much/how far to walk Husky pups? And what age to start running with them?? Any help would be appreciated as we dont want to over do it too soon!!! Thanks |

| Welcome and congrats on your husky pups!
As a general rule of thumb, most follow the 5 minutes of walking per month of age for puppies. So Nika at 6 months old would get walks around 30 minutes long, while Tito at 3 month old would get walks of 15 minutes in length. Running is better on adult joints than those of puppies so I would save running for after the one year mark. You can start introducing it earlier than that on softer surfaces at about 8 months or so if you really want to but I'm such a worry wart that I prefer to wait a few extra months and be safer than have to worry about doing any damage. _________________ |

| Rogue is 14 weeks and is EXHAUSTED after our around the block walk, I would say it's about 10-15 minutes? But we do it 2-3x a day (depending on if it's cool enough at noonish). 7AM, maybe 12PM, and 7PM. |

| Thank you both for your answers! Also, how many times a day would you do this? I ask as Nika would go into overdrive with just one 30 min walk a day! haha |

| It's up to your availability and her drive to go out. Make sure that you also give unlimited backyard play in addition to the walks. Playing with her in the yard will help expend a good amount of energy. _________________ |

| I don't think there's much of a limit for how many times a day... I think when Cheyenne was a baby we did 2 actual walks a day? But then again we also did the dog park everyday too. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?!
