| Hi everybody. So I love dogs, but huskies are my favorite breed. By total coincidence I may be adopting my friend's 15 month old husky. I've never had a husky and I've never transitioned a dog older than a year into a new home. Can anyone point me in the right direction to some good info about huskies and about my situation with this beautiful 15 month old husky named Luna?
Best,
Deemsy |

| Hello and welcome Deemsy. I've never found a need to treat older dogs any differently from younger ones when transitioning living situations. I'm sure others will be able to offer some good reading material on the breed and feel free to ask away. _________________ |

| Welcome to the forum! I'm not one for the books as I prefer to learn by experiences (and reading the experiences of others on here), but there is already some good information in the Technical forums. Feel free to read around in there and if you still have questions, you're more than welcome to start a thread on a particular topic (or reply to an existing one with a related question) Where in New York? I'm currently in the Adirondacks, but live in the Northern tundra that is Potsdam during the year _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Welcome! we adopted Sierra who is 6 and Jack who we think is just over a year and a half now in feb and march of this year and they were our first dogs together and since Sierra was the first I have to say we spent more time dog proofing the house then actually having her adjust to us! She was little shy the first few days but made her self right at home. The joy of not having to deal with potty training was great! when we got Jack we were all ready a month old dog owners so it was easier but different since he is still a puppy, much more active and need some work on commands but we are working on it, the 2 doges get alone great together but it took a week or so for Sierra to adjust to not being the center of attention any more and I had to adjust as well since she did not "need” me as much any more cause she had a new friend, huskies are great dogs and they make me laugh so much when im at home with them. We have a lot of great post you will find helpful adjusting to your hopefully new addition. |
