| Hey all! It's been a while since my introduction, been quite hectic at work. Anyway, Akira is going on 4 months now and she is doing great! She had some minor problems like eating and itchiness when I first got her. I'm happy to say that she is eating healthy (and everything on the ground) and no itchiness. I got a say, the last 2 months have been amazing. I enjoy seeing little Akira grow up and learn new things. Simple things like seeing her learn how to walk up stairs is like watching a toddler learning to walk. Here are some pics I took: At 11 weeks (2 weeks after we got her) At 13 weeks She loves car rides |

| oh look how much she has grown!!! thanks for the update!!!
do you have her tied down in the car with the window down? it will not take much for her to just jump out and hurt herself if she sees something. _________________ |

| I love her collar. Appa is just venturing to poke his nose out a car window, I think it gives him the willies. |

Thanks, I usually hold her when she sticks her head out the window. Your right though, I don't trust her sitting on her own! I'm looking around for a seatbelt harness for the car. |

| She's so cute and getting so big already! Definitely secure her in the car if the windows are going to be open. We had a member of another husky forum whose husky puppy died because it was not restrained in the car and jumped out the car window. Such a horrible accident that can be so easily prevented. Just a word to the wise so that you don't lose Akira that way. My mom's German Shepherd puppy was on a lead in the car one time and it jumped out the window. Poor thing was literally being hung by it's own collar and lead, dangling out the car. Luckily they were able to stop and save her. Definitely not worth the risk. _________________ |

Wonderful picture with the mirror made me smile, but made me shudder right after. Speaking from experience Biko fell out of the window a week after I got him, he was 13 months old. God was watching over him because I just happen to look out at the right hand mirror as he was tumbling out the window. Thankfully no one was behind me and I locked up the brakes from a slow speed as we were passing thru the local park. Also just for the record the window was open 6" maximum as I use to leave them wide open but after reading about a member from another forum that his dog fell out and was killed, I figured that they would be safe at 6" opening. Nope. Just like any other critter out there it seems if they can slip the head thru the opening the rest will follow. Now I leave no more then a 4" opening, Adobo hates it like that. Biko he shuns the windows like the plague if the car is moving. |

| yep, I'm totally paranoid with the window. I know for a fact that Kody WILL jump! Mya i'm not so sure, but Kody...YEPPERS! LOL! I open it just enough for them to stick their snout out, but that's it. I feel bad for them and my car window (that ends up covered in doggie drool), but oh well..lol |

| Agreed. I always hang on to her when she sticks her head out the window. I wasn't going to take any chances letting her stick her head out freely. It was easy to hold her while driving when she was smaller, but she's too big to sit on my lap I'm going to get her a car harness. |

| That makes me happy to hear you will keep her safe. I also only leave the window open enought for a nose to poke out. I can't wait to see more pictures of her! _________________ |

| Yall are afraid of a window you should try a jeep with the top down and doors off We where at the beach on our honeymoon at the offroad park right by the water i had both dogs tied in with there leashes using the roll bars. Well that apparently didnt work because Milo decided to jump out as hard as he could. He hung himself and luckily the collar snapped and he hit the sand. I was only doing 1-2mph. I bout $h!t myself ! needless to say the back seat was put back in and they now have kong harnesses with the seat belt attachment. |
