| Company policy just changed. No more Appa at work. We''re going to have to figure something else out. |

| Yeah, but Appa may be able to come back. Just for now things are crazy enough without the two dogs. |

| He's spending the day today at Puppy Daycare just down the street from work. I just got an update that he's doing great. It still breaks my heart a little. |

| So, doggie day care...
Pros: he had tons of fun. The staff fell in love with him. He'll learn to interact with all types of dogs. He's so tired I just spent 25 minutes grooming one half of his "pants" without a single complaint.
Cons: he didn't want to come home he was having so much fun. he's too tired to go on our nightly walk. His pants are so lopsided now it's almost embarrassing (see pros list). Of course the biggest con is he wasn't with us today. |

Of course the biggest con is he wasn't with us today. Before I read the 'Cons', I thought, 'He'll have lopsided pants! I think Storm likes doggie daycare. Ginger acts like she doesn't want to go, but seems to have fun while she's there. I know she follows Storm around half the time. And when I go to pick them up, Storm is fine to go home and have quiet time and lounge. Ginger acts like she's so excited to go home she can't wait to get out of there. It's the only time she jumps at the door! Now you have to wait for Appa to be sleeping on the other side so you can groom the other side of his 'pants'! _________________ |

| Today was a half day at work for me, so a half day home in the crate for Appa.
I might take things a bit overboard, but I have set up a laptop pointing at him in his crate that streams video to my iPhone so I can check on him whenever I want. I gave him a frozen peanut butter kong when I left, he finished it in about 30 minutes, then he realized he was alone. He whined and cried for about 30 minutes then he was totally calm/asleep the rest of the morning.
I'm worried about tomorrow though, it's a full day home alone for the little guy. We've dog proofed our garage, set up some fans, got an extra large water bowl, and got a few toys for him. Today I'm testing the temp of the garage (it's west facing luckily) to make sure it doesn't get too hot in there. If it does I'll be picking up a portable AC unit or crating him for the second half of the day (when the garage might be hot) in the house where it's cool.
I sure hope this doesn't last long... |

| i think getting him to be home alone is good training because you don't always want to have to find daycare. it hard but worth it. i would set up a video if i could i always wonder what they do all day, i know they eat news paper and sleep on the sofa but thats it! sometimes i find toys pulled out of the basket some times.... _________________ |

| I found a cool 'baby' monitor that you run the video over an app instead of having a hand held monitor. Since it's more like a webcam, you can watch the video on your iPhone or Android if you have one of those smart phones. And it's cheaper than a regular baby monitor.
I have one of these to monitor Storm while we crate train him. Works great! I know how long he can go in his crate without getting too stressed, and I know Ginger isn't getting stressed (sinced she's already crate trained).
Let me know if you're intersted in this 'baby' web-monitor. (I cost $65 and the app is free).

| That's slick that's it's a free-standing "web-cam."
I have an old laptop that doesn't get used for anything but sit in a closet that I broke out for this. The software is free, but the app for the iPhone is $5. It has "motion detection" so it alerts me when he wakes up. It's super easy to set up.

Tell me more! I would love to get one before we move. It's called Seedonk Baby Monitor. It comes with the driver software for the web camera, and you plug in the wireless device on your laptop/computer. When you turn on the camera, you use an app to view the video. The app is free. There's an app for iPhones and Androids which is also free. So if you leave the house, you'd turn on the web cam, and login in to the app on your phone to view the video instead. Pretty nice especially when you're trying to crate train or wonder what they would do if you want to let them roam the house while you're gone. Riley posted one that if you can set up your web camera that plugs into your computer or if you have a built in web cam in your laptop, you can use SKJM (the app for iPhones is iCam) and view that from your phone. That app costs $5, but I found one that sounds like it works the same way as SKJM/iCam and it's called Jumi. _________________ |
