Found Dog- Possible Husky Mix? Empty
PostSubject: Found Dog- Possible Husky Mix?   Found Dog- Possible Husky Mix? EmptyFri Jun 03, 2011 8:04 pm

Hello, I just registered and I just wanted to ask questions to you "experts" Smile. About a week ago I found a very cute/sweet what I'm assuming husky mix pup tied to a telephone pole outside a church. She wasn't "I'm just going to be right back" tied to it, she was I had to go home and get my husband's Gerber knife to cut the rope tied to it. I took her to my vet and had her checked for a microchip which there was none Sad. I left my name and phone number with local shelters, local vets, and even posted an ad on craigslist. I've had her about a week and not a single bite. Anyway, I was just wondering what you guys thought she was mixed with, or if she is even a husky mix and if so should I call my local husky rescue? I would rather not take her to the shelter. Here's some pictures of her:

Maybe husky/pitt mix? You might try a husky rescue, but most only take in pure bred ones. Try to find an all breed rescue too. Is her belly shaved? Like just got spayed?

The vet said she's been spayed probably within the last two months, the stitches are no longer there but her hair isn't growing back yet.

I'm surprised someone would get her spayed and then just leave her tied up. Strange. Hopefully it was just a mix up and you can find the owner or at least find a rescue. If you don't mind keeping her for a while, you can ask any rescue nearby if they can list her on petfinder for you. My mom's rescue does that for people around here.

Where are you located?! Her picture looks a LOT like an Akita/Husky mix that was lost in my area (SE Denver)... Flyers have been up for a while around here and as far as I know, she's still missing.

I live in Eastern Washington. I Contacted the husky rescue near me and sent them the pictures. They said she doesn't look anything like a husky. They said they try not to take mixes because they have three at the moment and no one has even inquired about them and they are even puppies. Turns out she's a resource guarder and resource guarder + kids= a potentially bad situation. I've tried to find her family and even tried to find someone who would potentially want her. I would have been willing to keep her but with her being a resource guarder and freaking out at our dog Demon when he even comes near her if she even has a stick near her I really don't feel like we are the best people to keep her. We tried for over two weeks and ended up taking her to the local shelter a few days ago. Sad The good news is she was adopted yesterday and today when I came to check up on her my hubby and I found a 3 year old female husky mix that we fell in love with and are making a member of our family tomorrow!

That's a great result, two dogs saved in the end! Congrats on your new adoptee too!
