PostSubject: Infection & Possible Tumor on Paw Pad. Help plz. Pictures Included   Infection & Possible Tumor on Paw Pad. Help plz. Pictures Included EmptyThu Dec 19, 2013 4:40 pm

Hey everyone,

I took our nearly 2 year old husky arya to the vet this morning after my brother found a nasty bump on her right rear paw pad. The doctor tells me it appears to be an infection, and he prescribed two medications. He then said if the swelling doesn't go down within about a week, it may be a tumor.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Arya shows no discomfort running on it but she's licking it a lot and it's killing me to know she has this nasty looking thing on her foot.

Thanks

Tasha had something like this once. It turned out she had gotten something stuck in her paw and then grew an abscess around it. It was a long time ago, but from what I remember, antibiotics cleared it up.

Did the vet give you a cone of shame? If not, I'd go purchase one asap. It wont heal if she licks it!

How would you soak it in Epsom salts? That's a real question, the only thing I could think of would be stand her in a bath tub.

Maybe wrap with a washcloth soaked in it? Or hold her foot in a bucket (seriously, I have done this). Standing in the bathtub could work too.

i did it in a bucket, well more like a kitty litter box i had from our chinchillas but it worked good, just kept the one foot in there for as long as i could then used a bootie on the foot to keep it clean after that.

I don't help a lot in that I seldom respond to someone making their first post. All depends ... we get so many people who show up, post one time and never come back ...
