| Your first picture doesn't have a name but they look like they're ready to do the other half, no??
My two they're stars at holding the floor down, but man it must be a lot of work! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| @aljones she was ready to rock and roll about 30 minutes after she completed the 1/2 marathon. My husband not so much . Lots of work but so worth it! |

| Is killing things a sport? Ive been having fun watching the boys torture squirt ( in her opinion) im still not 100% sure how the kids have convinced her to sit in the sled.
But if hunting is a sport, all 4 of mine do it. Mostly for pack rats but spider and "angry doe" seem to be getting ready to square off. Agry doe is the only deer ive seen around that comes up to the dogs when they bark/howl at her. The other deer either run or ignore the dogs. Last year angry doe attacked splinter and spider got part of her ear. In the last 2 days she has charged the fence twice and spider almost bit her in the face.

| @Lostmaniac, I’d say prey drive qualifies! Regretfully both of mine have brought a low flying baby bird down with a terrible ending for the bird. Two raccoons and squirrels in our area have no fear. |

| I won't go into Ami's prey count. Suffice it to say he is highly effective, he's had more rabies vaccines than most dogs his age and he's lucky to be alive, many thanks to most understanding and forgiving neighbors m |

| Okay, since we're being serious I guess it's time to fess up. Avalanche will chase any rabbit that isn't smart enough to stay out of the area ... and as many as he's chased, he's never brought one home, nor has he come home with blood on his muzzle, I really think that to him it's just a game of chase.
Misty, the first Husky I had and who came down here with me regularly brought home her meal ... notice, it was HER meal. If I walked toward her when she was 'dining' she'd just pick up her plate and back up. How many? Well, figure an average of one rabbit a week for two years ... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| The old dogs are good at competitive sleeping. I used to bikejore with Kenzi back in the day. Haven't tried the bike with Kasper as we are still working through some reactivity with him and bikes. I've done some 10k (6.2 miles) runs with him. He could do a half but I'm not quite up to half marathon level. Lungs have it in them but my hip flexors lose their minds if I go out much more than the 10k range. I have thought about barn hunt with Kasper. I think he would be very good at it but the only barn hunt league around here means going to Columbia and they charge what feels a bit pricey per hunt so I haven't tried it. _________________ |

| Yeah they dont do organized barn hunt type stuff here. And i wont get into squirts kill count but it involved a few calves and a steer among other things. There also was the small massacre in wolf creek pass where squirt got a large number of Prarie dogs. I did actually train squirt to chase kill and return using the native American training where they get part if it.
I stopped counting the squirrels and other rodents they kill years ago.
It would seem a new animal has moved in, and its one that potentially might hurt a dog. Beavers are no joke. Haven't actually seen it yet. Just the teeth marks and downed aspens. |

| We had a cattle dog foolishly go into a groundhog den a million years ago and got its faced ripped off. It was terrible. Had to put the dog down. Some of those smallish varmints know how to handle themselves. _________________ |

| Our primary sport is mushing. We compete in 30 mile races, hoping to do more next winter like the Midnight Run and Can Am 100, which was the goal this past winter before the lack of snow messed everything up. I've also done fast CAT with several, CAT with Ame, Chise, and Haru, barn hunt practice with Ame, rally with Yona, and dock diving with Ame. We also do conformation training for the sleddog showcases. |
