Our 12 year old tore the ACL on his left hind leg on Friday. He had TPLO surgery on his right leg 2.5 years ago. He is very healthy and active still for his age. Just wondering if anyone has gone forward with this surgery for their pet at this age or possibly even older?

We do have a member who is on occasionally. @jbealer who has done this surgery or similar on one of her dogs when she was older. Can't remember how old Sierra was for her last one but think she had both of hers done fairly late in life. Sierra went to 15 or 16 and think her knees/acl was done around the age of your pup, maybe later. Here is a post that goes over some of Sierra's later years ailments and how Jenn handled them. If you find Jenn's scrapbooks I'm sure she talks more about when she had her tears and what all they went through with the recovery more in depth but the search function of the forum isn't stellar and there's a lot of content to dig through in scrapbooks but I found these two posts that mention. In general if she's in good shape then recovery should be possible. Just might have to slow down on the big giant walks at warp speed afterwards.
