i just love my parents landscaping. i thought i'd share i took some pics when i was there last weekend. oh yeah...and stole some plants ...with permission of course

out front: i think they need to fill in around that fence area more but it gets no sun so its kind of difficult

Gorgeous yard......which wouldn't be so gorgeous if my two Huskeroos were around for an hour!!! Seriously, very pretty.......... Sigh.........

Oh my word, they have beautiful plants, trees, flowers and fantastic landscaping! I LOVE their stone borders, I want to do something very similar in my backyard with slightly different style rocks.

The little pond is adorable! That and Tori's little pond are making me want to put one in my backyard...maybe next year though. Do they actually have any fish in there?

Looks like your parents have put a lot of work into their garden. How many years in the making has it been to get it to look like it does now?

I have a question about the fish pond.. I would really like one myself, but do they need to have flow in order to keep clean, or do you clean it some how? Or is it just fine on it's own??

J, most ponds containing fish will require a filter and some regular maintenance to keep them clean but they are not too time consuming. How much cleaning and maintenance is required will depend on several factors including climate, landscaping (debris!), temperature, amount of sun, insects, what/how many plants you have in the pond, birds, and even what/how many fish you stock. If you are considering adding a pond to your yard I would strongly advise doing plenty of research on it and also visiting your local pond supply store for more personalized information and advice. I was offered a job at a pond supply store in NW Washington state (because of my history with aquatics) about 4 years ago and there's a lot that goes into it but it is very rewarding in the long run.

my parents have a great koi pond and i love it! i know i started a thread on here about huskies and ponds... we decided it was not going to work, but the idea of a water garden is still floating around. Koi Ponds i think take a lot of time a care and i don't have that right now.

I also love that bird bath on just the rod, i really want a bird bath for the front yard off to the side.

well we moved into that house in 1997 so they have been working on it since then. It had almost no plants and only two maple trees when they started. My dad has taken down the one in the backyard. Everything else is stuff they have done. The shrubs and plants next to the house are older than the stuff around the fence since the fence was only put up a couple of years ago.
The pond has two fish in it which are about 4-5 years old. Nikki has gone for a swim in the pond in the summer....whoops, lol. The little dog is georgie. She is a rat terrier who is a little under a year old. Yes she is their dog. Thanks for enjoying the photos!
