Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

In Memory of Raven Empty
PostSubject: In Memory of Raven   In Memory of Raven EmptyThu Jan 14, 2021 3:40 am

I had to put my sweet Raven to rest on the 11th; he was 13 years old. He was a gentle, warm soul and it was my privilege to be there when he crossed over. Since Raven's passing, I haven't gone a minute without thinking about him. I wonder whether I'll ever get over this. The last two evenings, I've been going on our nightly walk with him joining me in spirit. I've carried his collar and a picture in my jacket pocket as I follow our regular route and rest stops. I feel so lucky to have experienced life with such a precious friend. I miss you immensely my friend, but I'm glad that you're now pain-free.

It's hard to know what to say. For a pup, he lived to a ripe old age but for the human in this partnership it would have been nice if he could have lived a few decades more.

"I'm sorry" sounds trite but what else can I say. I feel your pain having put down a few of my own ...

Remember all those great days you spent together because you'll never forget him ...

So sorry for your loss. It does get easier but it does take time. Some dogs make such an impact that it can take a long time.

So sorry you had to say good bye, i love that you are walking your route with him still. I carry Sierra's collar in my backpack, she is with me on every climb i do.
Hugs

it takes time, the tears will dry up but you will always think about him.

I understand completely.
When my husky #2, Tasha, died, I kept on going for walks like I did with her.
We'd talk then.
I was so sad, I thought my heart would explode.

And now I am faced with the same situation with Bodhi.
It's coming and I don't think I can stand it.

Raven is at peace now.
I wish for some resignation, peace, or acceptance for you.
